Immunophenotyping in myelodysplastic syndromes can add prognostic information to well-established and new clinical scores. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
BACKGROUND: myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are a heterogeneous group of hematopoietic clonal disorders. So, prognostic variables are important to separate patients with a similar biology and clinical outcome.

ICSH Guidance on Bone Marrow Examination and Reporting

open access: yesInternational Journal of Laboratory Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Examination of the bone marrow (BM) remains fundamental to the diagnosis, classification, prognostication, and monitoring of hematolymphoid and other disorders affecting blood cell production. Since publication of the International Council for Standardization in Haematology (ICSH) guideline in 2008, advances in diagnostic technologies, disease

CD13: A Key Player in Multidrug Resistance in Cancer Chemotherapy

open access: yesOncology Research Featuring Preclinical and Clinical Cancer Therapeutics, 2020
Cancer is one of the most serious diseases that are harmful to human health. Systemic chemotherapy is an optimal therapeutic strategy for the treatment of cancer, but great difficulty has been encountered in its administration in the form of multidrug resistance (MDR). As an enzyme on the outer cell surface, CD13 is documented to be involved in the MDR

The moonlighting enzyme CD13: old and new functions to target [PDF]

open access: yesTrends in Molecular Medicine, 2008
Aminopeptidase N (CD13) is a widely expressed ectoenzyme with functions that do not always depend on its enzymatic activity: an aspect that has been overlooked. Numerous CD13-targeting tools have been developed in the last few years. Several of them are already undergoing clinical trials, and there are promising reports on the effectiveness of others ...

Stem Cells From Dental Pulp, Periodontal Tissues, and Other Oral Sources: Biological Concepts and Regenerative Potential

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
A graphical abstract recapping the different sources of dental, periodontal, and other oral‐derived mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) and their regenerative mechanisms and potentials. The review's article findings bridge fundamental biological science with translational advances, highlighting the significance of MSCs in craniofacial regenerative ...

CD13/APN regulates endothelial invasion and filopodia formation

open access: yesBlood, 2007
CD13/aminopeptidase N is a transmembrane peptidase that is induced in the vasculature of solid tumors and is a potent angiogenic regulator. Here, we demonstrate that CD13 controls endothelial cell invasion in response to the serum peptide bradykinin by facilitating signal transduction at the level of the plasma membrane.

CD13 and TCR Clone: Markers of Early Mycosis Fungoides

open access: yesActa Dermato-Venereologica, 2007
Making a differential diagnosis between early mycosis fungoides and parapsoriasis is often difficult at the clinical and histological level. The aim of this study was to explore markers that could help in this process. A total of 88 patients were included in 2 categories: large plaque parapsoriasis and digitiform parapsoriasis.

Endothelial miR‐15a/16‐1 Regulation of SYNE1 Mediates Structural and Functional Recovery after Traumatic Brain Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 61, 3 November 2026.
Endothelial miR‐15a/16‐1 deletion promotes long‐term recovery after traumatic brain injury by restoring SYNE1 expression. Enhanced endothelial SYNE1 preserves vascular integrity, protects white and gray matter, and improves neurological function. The endothelial miR‐15a/16‐1–SYNE1 axis emerges as a key regulator of neurovascular repair and a potential ...

CD13 Promotes Mesenchymal Stem Cell-mediated regeneration of ischemic muscle

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2014
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are multipotent, tissue-resident cells that can facilitate tissue regeneration and thus show great promise as potential therapeutic agents.
