CD1a promotes systemic manifestations of skin inflammation [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Skin inflammation is often accompanied by systemic disease, yet the pathways that regulate this escalation are little known. Here authors show that transgenic expression of human CD1a in mice leads to the escalation of experimental skin inflammation and ...

It is time to beelieve the CD1a hype! [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, 2016
Conventional T cells have historically been linked to exacerbating allergy. By efficiently generating primarily TH2 cells, allergens skew the immune response to produce IL‐4, IL‐13, and IgE. Previously, CD1a‐responsive T cells were shown to functionally respond to bee and wasp venom allergens.

Molecular Mechanism of Lipopeptide Presentation by CD1a [PDF]

open access: yesImmunity, 2005
CD1a is expressed on Langerhans cells (LCs) and dendritic cells (DCs), where it mediates T cell recognition of glycolipid and lipopeptide antigens that contain either one or two alkyl chains. We demonstrate here that CD1a-restricted T cells can discriminate the peptide component of didehydroxymycobactin lipopeptides.

Circulating CD1c+ myeloid dendritic cells are potential precursors to LCH lesion CD1a+CD207+ cells

open access: yesBlood Advances, 2020
: Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a myeloproliferative disorder that is characterized by the inflammatory lesions with pathogenic CD1a+CD207+ dendritic cells (DCs). BRAFV600E and other somatic activating MAPK gene mutations have been identified in

Cracking the code of skin inflammation with CD1a [PDF]

open access: yesNature Immunology, 2016
CD1a on Langerhans cells in the epidermis is the lipid receptor for the plant-derived allergen urushiol and self lipids and is a key amplifier of inflammatory responses in urushiol-induced contact dermatitis as well as in psoriasis.

Efficient preclinical treatment of cortical T cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia with T lymphocytes secreting anti-CD1a T cell engagers [PDF]

open access: yesJournal for ImmunoTherapy of Cancer, 2022
Background The dismal clinical outcome of relapsed/refractory (R/R) T cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) highlights the need for innovative targeted therapies.

The role of CD1a and phospholipase A2 in psoriasis

open access: yes, 2016
Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease associated with a T helper 17 (Th17) response, yet it has proved challenging to identify relevant peptide-based T cell antigens. Langerhans cells show a differential migration phenotype in psoriatic lesions and express constitutively high levels of CD1a, which presents lipid antigens to T cells.

CD1a in human cancers: a new role for an old molecule

open access: yesTrends in Immunology, 2004
Abstract CD1a is often used as marker for dendritic cells (DCs) in vitro and in vivo . The density of CD1a + DCs within human tumours has been associated with survival. The functions of CD1a and the other members of the CD1 family have long been unclear but in recent years it has emerged that CD1 molecules present non-peptide antigens to T cells ...

Cerebral CD1a positive Rosai–Dorfman disease with coexistent granulomatous angiitis: A case report

open access: yesGlioma, 2022
Rosai–Dorfman disease (RDD) is a nonneoplastic histiocytic proliferation. RDD is CD1a negative as opposed to Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH). The lesion was positive for CD1a immunohistochemistry in our RDD patient, suggesting an overlap with LCH. In

Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis with the Synchronous Invasion of Stomach and Colon in an Adult Patient: A Case Report

open access: yesThe Korean Journal of Gastroenterology, 2022
Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is reported less frequently in adults than in children. The most common site of involvement in adults is the bone, accounting for 30-50% of cases. The gastrointestinal tract is very rare, accounting for approximately 2%
