Polyclonal and monoclonal B lymphocytes response in HCV-infected patients treated with direct-acting antiviral agents [PDF]
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) chronic infection can be associated with extrahepatic manifestations such as mixed cryoglobulinaemia and lymphoproliferative disorders that are endowed with increased rates of morbidity and all-cause mortality.

Daratumumab (anti-CD38) induces loss of CD38 on red blood cells [PDF]
To the editor: The recently approved anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody daratumumab (DARA) provides a unique therapeutic strategy that more selectively targets plasma cells in patients with plasma cell myeloma.[1][1][⇓][2][⇓][3][⇓][4][⇓][5]-[6][6] While DARA recognizes and removes ...

Novel Roles for the Ectoenzyme CD38 in the Maintenance of Transcriptional and Metabolic Homeostasis in Astrocytes. [PDF]
CD38 deficiency influences brain NAD/NAM metabolism. Global CD38 deficiency drives changes in astrocyte mitochondrial, metabolic, senescence, and neurodegenerative‐related genes. CD38 deficiency alters glial reactivity and astrocyte bioenergetics. ABSTRACT CD38 is an ectoenzyme that converts NAD+ to NAM to help maintain bioenergetic homeostasis.

This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

Mechanisms altering airway smooth muscle cell Ca(2+) homeostasis in two asthma models [PDF]
Background: Asthma is characterized by airway remodeling, altered mucus production and airway smooth muscle cell (ASMC) contraction causing extensive airway narrowing. In particular, alterations of ASMC contractility seem to be of crucial importance. The

CD38: T Cell Immuno-Metabolic Modulator [PDF]
Activation and subsequent differentiation of T cells following antigenic stimulation are triggered by highly coordinated signaling events that lead to instilling cells with a discrete metabolic and transcriptional feature. Compelling studies indicate that intracellular nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) levels have profound influence on diverse ...

The role of lipid metabolism in neuronal senescence
Disrupted lipid metabolism, through alterations in lipid species or lipid droplet accumulation, can drive neuronal senescence. However, lipid dyshomeostasis can also occur alongside neuronal senescence, further amplifying tissue damage. Delineating how lipid‐induced senescence emerges in neurons and glial cells, and how it contributes to ageing and ...
