Destruction of CD4 T Lymphocytes Alone Cannot Account for their Long-term Decrease in AIDS [PDF]
Following previous models describing a quasi steady state (QSS) for the evolution of HIV infection and AIDS, we have developed a larger formalism simulating the long-term evolution of the QSS We show that the long-term evolution of AIDS cannot be explained by the destruction alone of CD4 T cells, either directly or indirectly.

Early and Highly Suppressive ART are Main Factors Associated with Low Viral Reservoir in European Perinatally HIV Infected Children [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Future strategies aiming to achieve HIV-1 remission are likely to target individuals with small reservoir size. SETTING: We retrospectively investigated factors associated with HIV-1 DNA levels in European, perinatally HIV-infected ...

Quantifying tumour-infiltrating lymphocyte subsets : a practical immuno-histochemical method [PDF]
Background: Efficient histological quantification of tumour-infiltrating T and B lymphocyte (TIL) subsets in archival tissues would greatly facilitate investigations of the role of TIL in human cancer biology. We sought to develop such a method. Methods:

The rate of decline of CD4 T-cells in people infected with HIV [PDF]
In people infected with HIV the RNA viral load is a good predictor of the rate of loss of CD4 cells at a population level but there is still great variability in the rate of decline of CD4 cells among individuals. Here we show that the pre-infection distribution of CD4 cell counts and the distribution of survival times together account for 87% of the ...

Disability for HIV and Disincentives for Health: The Impact of South Africa's Disability Grant on HIV/AIDS Recovery [PDF]
South Africa's disability grants program is tied to its HIV/AIDS recovery program, such that individuals who are ill enough may qualify. Qualification is historically tied to a CD4 count of 200 cells/mm3, which improve when a person adheres to antiretroviral therapy.

Low temperature anomaly of heat capacity of CD4 rotors in solid CD4-Kr solution [PDF]
The heat capacity of the solid Kr-CD4 (13% CD4) solution has been investigated. It is shown that the temperature dependence of the heat capacity Crot of the rotational subsystem in this solution is radically different from the corresponding dependences in the previously studied Kr-CD4 (1%, 5% CD4) and Kr-CH4 (5-60%) solutions.

STAT3 mutation impacts biological and clinical features of T-LGL leukemia [PDF]
STAT3 mutations have been described in 30-40% of T-large granular lymphocyte (T-LGL) leukemia patients, leading to STAT3 pathway activation. Considering the heterogeneity of the disease and the several immunophenotypes that LGL clone may express, the aim

Evaluation of total Lymphocyte Count and Absolute Lymphocyte Count as a Surrogate Marker for CD4 Count to Initiate ART [PDF]
INTRODUCTION: The burden of HIV remains high for patients and their families especially in resource limited settings. It is estimated that 40 million people with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) reside in resource limited settings.

Abnormal distribution of CD8 subpopulation in B-chronic lymphocytic leukemia identified by flow cytometry [PDF]
We studied the occurrence of T-cell subpopulations for patients with B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia. The CD8+ population was divided into CD8+ suppressor (CD8a+) and CD8+ cytotoxic (CD8b+) lymphocytes using difference in orthogonal light scattering.\
