Predictors of change in CD4 lymphocyte count and weight among HIV infected patients on anti-retroviral treatment in Ethiopia: a retrospective longitudinal study. [PDF]
Antiretroviral treatment (ART) has been introduced in Ethiopia a decade ago and continues to be scaled up. However, there is dearth of literature on the impact of ART on changes in CD4 lymphocyte count and weight among patients on treatment. To determine ...

Local reference ranges for full blood count and CD4 lymphocyte count testing.
Recent advances in full blood count and CD4 technology, coupled with the changing population demographics of the Gauteng region, have necessitated reevaluation of the reference ranges currently in use.A cross-sectional study of 631 female and 88 male HIV-negative participants from the Gauteng region was performed.

Use of Total Lymphocyte Count to Predict Absolute CD4 Count in HIV-Seropositive Cases [PDF]
We conducted an observational study to assess the use of total lymphocyte counts (TLC) alone and along with hemoglobin (Hb) as a predictor of CD4 count. A total of 103 antiretroviral therapy (ART)-naive HIV-1-infected patients were enrolled and divided in 2 groups (with CD4 count <200 cells/mm3 and CD4 count ≥200 cells/mm3).

Factors associated with CD4 lymphocyte counts in HIV-negative Senegalese individuals [PDF]
Summary CD4+ lymphocytes are a primary target of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and CD4 counts are one of the factors used to measure disease progression in HIV-positive individuals. CD4 counts vary in uninfected individuals and across populations due to a variety of demographic, environmental, immunological and genetic factors ...

Immunogenetics of CD4 Lymphocyte Count Recovery during Antiretroviral Therapy: An AIDS Clinical Trials Group Study [PDF]
During antiretroviral therapy, CD4 lymphocyte count increases are modest in some patients despite virologic control. We explored whether polymorphisms in genes important for T cell expansion, survival, and apoptosis are associated with the magnitude of ...
