Specific acquisition of functional CD59 but not CD46 or CD55 by hepatitis C virus.
Viruses of different families encode for regulators of the complement system (RCAs) or acquire such RCAs from the host to get protection against complement-mediated lysis (CML). As hepatitis C virus (HCV) shares no genetic similarity to any known RCA and

Gut‐derived innate lymphoid cell 3 (ILC3) has been shown to participate in the pathogenesis of ankylosing spondylitis (AS). CX3CR1+ mononuclear phagocytes (MNPs) have been demonstrated to modulate ILC3 function in the gut.

Porcine kidney xenotransplantation: From primate models to clinical reality
In the face of a critical shortage of human donor kidneys for end‐stage renal disease patients, porcine kidney xenotransplantation has emerged as a viable solution. This field has navigated major hurdles, including immune rejection, physiological incompatibilities, potential biomechanical differences and the risk of cross‐species infection. To overcome

Genetic‐Proteomic Integration Identifies Predictive Plasma Proteins for Multiple Sclerosis
Objective Multiple sclerosis (MS) develops after a prolonged preclinical phase. Identifying circulating biomarkers that capture this early biology can improve risk stratification and guide intervention. We aimed to identify plasma proteins driving MS susceptibility using large‐scale proteogenomic integration and to evaluate their prediagnostic ...

We retrospectively evaluated the impact of C5 complement inhibition on immune cell profiles and recovery in 27 PNH patients; both CD4+ and CD8+ T cells exhibited partial recovery, while B cell counts increased but remained below normal levels. In contrast, Treg cells were significantly reduced in PNH patients and showed no notable change post‐treatment.

C-reactive protein upregulates the whole blood expression of CD59 - an integrative analysis
Elevated C-reactive protein (CRP) concentrations in the blood are associated with acute and chronic infections and inflammation. Nevertheless, the functional role of increased CRP in multiple bacterial and viral infections as well as in chronic ...

Proteomic Changes in Cancer Cell Lines as a Result of Bacterial Infection
ABSTRACT Bacterial infections have been implicated in shaping the tumor microenvironment (TME), but their effects on cancer cell proteomes remain unexplored. In this study, we analyzed proteomic changes in melanoma (A375) and ovarian cancer (OVCAR3) cell line models following infection with Staphylococcus aureus strain USA300 or Salmonella enterica ...
