Xcr1+ type 1 conventional dendritic cells are essential mediators for atherosclerosis progression

open access: yeseLife
Atherosclerosis is characterized by lipid accumulation within plaques, leading to foam cell formation and an inflammatory response within the aortic lesions.

T cell infiltration on local CpG-B delivery in early-stage melanoma is predominantly related to CLEC9A+CD141+ cDC1 and CD14+ antigen-presenting cell recruitment

open access: yesJournal for ImmunoTherapy of Cancer, 2021
Background We previously reported CpG-B injection at the primary tumor excision site prior to re-excision and sentinel node biopsy to result in immune activation of the sentinel lymph node (SLN), increased melanoma-specific CD8+ T cell rates in ...

SLC38A2 and glutamine signalling in cDC1s dictate anti-tumour immunity

open access: yesNature, 2023
Abstract Cancer cells evade T cell-mediated killing through tumour–immune interactions whose mechanisms are not well understood 1,2 . Dendritic cells (DCs), especially type-1 conventional DCs (cDC1s), mediate T cell priming and therapeutic efficacy against tumours

Cross‐dressed cDC1s instruct T cells in allorecognition [PDF]

open access: yesImmunology & Cell Biology, 2020
A new model has been proposed by Li et al. for the role of DC subsets in the semidirect pathway of allorecognition.

Conventional type 2 lung dendritic cells are potent inducers of follicular helper T cells in the asthmatic lung

open access: yesAllergology International, 2021
Background: Follicular helper T (Tfh) cells represent a unique subset of helper CD4+ T cells in lymphoid follicles. Recently, Tfh cells were shown to play an important role in asthma through B cell differentiation.

Aptamer‐Engineered Liposomal Platform Enables in Situ cDC1 Vaccination to Potentiate Immunotherapy in Prostate Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Prostate cancer is immunologically ‘cold’, with scarce, dysfunctional type 1 conventional dendritic cells (cDC1s) that limit T cell priming. We introduce an aptamer‐targeted liposomedelivering FMS‐like tyrosine kinase 3 ligand (Flt3L) and chlorin e6 (Ce6). Ultrasound induces antigen release and cDC1s recruitment, creating an in situ cDC1 vaccine.

Novel Cre-Expressing Mouse Strains Permitting to Selectively Track and Edit Type 1 Conventional Dendritic Cells Facilitate Disentangling Their Complexity in vivo

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2018
Type 1 conventional DCs (cDC1) excel in the cross-priming of CD8+ T cells, which is crucial for orchestrating efficient immune responses against viruses or tumors.

Tumor‐Infiltrating mregDCs Restrain Anti‐Tumor Immunity in Early Relapse HCC

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tumor‐infiltrating mregDCs are regulated by the TNFR2‐non‐canonical NF‐κB axis, which is mediated by TNF‐α secreted by CD161+CD8+ T cells. These mregDCs recruit CD161+CD8+ T cells via the CCL20‐CCR6 axis, forming a positive feedback loop that enhances immunosuppression, promotes early recurrence of HCC, and further confirms TNFR2 as a key therapeutic ...

Beyond cDC1: Emerging Roles of DC Crosstalk in Cancer Immunity [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2019
Dendritic cells (DCs) efficiently process and present antigens to T cells, and by integrating environmental signals, link innate and adaptive immunity. DCs also control the balance between tolerance and immunity, and are required for T-cell mediated anti-tumor immunity.

IL-6 selectively suppresses cDC1 specification via C/EBPβ

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 2023
Cytokines produced in association with tumors can impair antitumor immune responses by reducing the abundance of type 1 conventional dendritic cells (cDC1), but the mechanism remains unclear. Here, we show that tumor-derived IL-6 generally reduces cDC development but selectively impairs cDC1 development in both murine and human systems through the ...
