Targeting the Menin–KMT2A interaction in leukemia: Lessons learned and future directions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
Abstract Chromosomal rearrangements involving the Mixed Lineage Leukemia gene (MLL1, KMT2A) are defining a genetically distinct subset in about 10% of human acute leukemias. Translocations involving the KMT2A‐locus at chromosome 11q23 are resulting in the formation of a chimeric oncogene, where the N‐terminal part of KMT2A is fused to a variety of ...

Kip/Cip and Ink4 Cdk inhibitors cooperate to induce cell cycle arrest in response to TGF-beta.

open access: yesGenes & Development, 1995
G1 progression in mammalian cells requires the activity of the cyclin D-dependent kinases Cdk4 and/or Cdk6 and the cyclin E-dependent kinase Cdk2. Proliferating Mv1Lu mink lung epithelial cells and human keratinocytes contain high levels of the universal

Genetic variants linked to type 2 diabetes in CDKN1B and TCF7L2 influence survival outcomes in metastatic colorectal cancer

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
What's New? Multiple genetic polymorphisms characteristic of type 2 diabetes (T2D) have been associated with unfavorable prognostic outcomes in individuals with both T2D and metastatic colorectal cancer. This study evaluated the impact of T2D genetic polymorphisms on metastatic colon cancer prognosis in a cohort of non‐diabetic patients.

Cell Cycle Control in Eukaryotes: a BioSpi model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
This paper presents a stochastic model of the cell cycle control in eukaryotes. The framework used is based on stochastic process algebras for mobile systems. The automatic tool used in the simulation is the BioSpi. We compare our approach with classical

Calpain Proteases and the Evolving Signaling Network in Insect Embryonic Patterning

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part B: Molecular and Developmental Evolution, EarlyView.
Insect embryonic Dorsal‐Ventral (DV) patterning relies on the BMP and Toll pathways to different extents. Calcium‐dependent cystein proteases of the Calpain family also exert an important function to pattern the DV axis. In Drosophila, Calpain A cleaves the Cactus/IkappaB inhibitor and modifies Toll signals in ventral regions of the embryo. In Rhodnius

Risk Analysis Index Versus Modified Frailty Index: Outcomes After Otolaryngologic Surgery

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
RAI and MFI‐5 are two frailty scoring systems used for perioperative risk assessment in multiple surgical specialties. This study shows that RAI outperformed MFI‐5 in predicting postoperative outcomes in patients undergoing otolaryngologic surgeries.

Efficacy and safety of low‐dose atorvastatin plus ezetimibe for primary hypercholesterolemia: A randomized, double‐blind, multicenter phase 3 trial

open access: yesLipids, EarlyView.
Low‐dose atorvastatin combined with ezetimibe achieves superior LDL‐C reduction (44.8%) compared with equivalent or higher‐dose statin monotherapy in Korean patients, presenting a more effective and safer therapeutic strategy potentially applicable to broader Asian populations.
