A Constellation of Fluorescent Biosensors to Illuminate the Galaxy of Protein Kinases
Protein kinases (PKs) are enzymes that catalyze phosphorylation of protein substrates involved in a wide variety of biological signalling pathways. This review describes the different families and mechanisms of action and regulation of protein kinases, together with the different classes of fluorescent biosensors that have been engineered and ...

The study focused on the use of QM/MM simulations to investigate enzymatic reaction in targets of pharmaceutical relevance. The regulation of the eukaryotic cell cycle depends on the action of several related Ser/Thr protein kinases called cyclin ...

BMI‐1 modulation and trafficking during M phase in diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma
The schematic illustrates BMI‐1 phosphorylation during M phase, which triggers its translocation from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. In cycling cells, BMI‐1 functions within the PRC1 complex to mediate H2A K119 monoubiquitination. Following PTC596‐induced M phase arrest, phosphorylated BMI‐1 dissociates from PRC1 and is exported to the cytoplasm via its

Transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β) inhibits cell-cycle progression of many types of cells by arresting them in G1/S phase through inhibition of the active cyclin-Cdk complexes that lead to inhibition of Rb phosphorylation.

Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer‐related death. We investigated the role of the epigenetic regulator DMAP1 in NSCLC and found that its loss induces replication stress and DNA damage. This in turn activates type I IFN signaling via the cGAS–STING pathway and transcriptional ISG de‐repression, enhancing anti‐tumor immune responses ...

In preparation for the CDK workshop later this month, I am writing up my material for my kick-off presentation of the workshop. So, I better make it good. Using LaTeX at least overcomes my laziness which always made Word documents look stupid.

Proton FLASH Exposure Preserves Gut Commensal Microbiomes and Spares Intestinal Stem Cells
This study highlights the role of Proton FLASH abdominal irradiation in sparing of intestinal stem cells and preservation of key gut microbial population resulting minimization of radiation toxicity in intestinal epithelium in mice. Our findings support the potential of Proton FLASH to improve the therapeutic ratio for abdominal radiation exposure ...

This study develops a GSH‐responsive nanoplatform, NP@Fla‐Cu, to co‐activate cuproptosis and excessive mitophagy in uveal melanoma. The nanoplatform enhances tumor‐specific copper delivery, depletes antioxidant defenses, and remodels the tumor immune microenvironment.

It is currently not well understood how cells regulate basic properties, e.g., volume and mechanics within dense multicellular environments like tumors. Here, we show that different cell types of cancer and also normal cells largely decrease their nuclear and cellular volumes in emerging cell clusters and that this is partly driven by cell cycle shifts.
