(P 294) on the accuracy of techniques to determine cell Viability in 3D tissues or scaffolds [PDF]
Introduction: Cell viability is a key parameter for 3D tissue engineering. Several methods are commonly used, but their accuracy has not been evaluated. Here, we compare three methods, i) lactate dehydrogenase staining on cryosections (LDH), ii) Calcein ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

A comparative study of cell death using electrical capacitance measurements and dielectrophoresis
The changes in the dielectric properties of cells that occur during their exposure to various lethal environmental stresses were measured using both dielectric spectroscopy and dielectrophoresis.

Justicia gendarussa Leaf Extract Increases Endothelial Cell Viability in Angiotensin II-Induced Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells [PDF]
Hypertension stimulates the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System (RAAS) to malfunction and activates the synthesis of angiotensin II (Ang II). It triggers the generation of oxidative stress, which in turn causes endothelial cell dysfunction and death ...

Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

PIEZO1 Channel Is a Potential Regulator of Synovial Sarcoma Cell-Viability
Detection of mechanical stress is essential for diverse biological functions including touch, audition, and maintenance of vascular myogenic tone. PIEZO1, a mechano-sensing cation channel, is widely expressed in neuronal and non-neuronal cells and is ...
