Single‐Nucleus Transcriptome Analysis Provides New Insights Into B Chromosome Elimination in Sorghum
ABSTRACT B chromosomes are supernumerary entities found in many plant species, with some exhibiting tissue‐specific elimination. In Sorghum purpureosericeum, extensive B chromosome elimination occurs during embryogenesis affecting most of the embryonic organs, leaving the B chromosome maintained mainly in limited regions of meristems.

The Split Personality of CENP-A Nucleosomes [PDF]
The composition and structure of centromeric nucleosomes, which contain the histone H3 variant CENP-A, is intensely debated. Two independent studies in this issue, in yeast and human cells, now suggest that CENP-A nucleosomes adopt different structures depending on the stage of the cell cycle.

CENP-A occupies DNA sequences within putative centromere contigs.
Organization of each CENP-A-enriched island corresponding to centromere candidates: (A) CenX, (B) Cen4; (C) CenY; (D) Cen3; (E) Cen2. Different repeat families are color coded (see legend; note that Jockey elements are shown in one color even though they

Mechanistic and functional insights into the human kinesin motor CENP-E in cell division
During mitosis, chromosomes align at the spindle equator and biorient in order to equally distribute the genome into two daughter cells. A macromolecular protein complex, known as the kinetochore, facilitates the end-on attachment of chromosomes to

CENP-A nucleosomes are interspersed at variable densities throughout the core centromeric domain
The 87.8 kilobase (kb) major domain. Shown are the putative subdomains of centromere protein (CENP)-A, with higher densities indicated by darker shading. The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) microarray fragments are shown below (see Figure 2).

MIS12 Is Required for Kinetochore‐Microtubule Attachment in Oocyte Meiosis
A model depicting the role of MIS12 in K‐MT attachment during oocyte meiosis. The presence of MIS12 stabilizes bipolar K‐MT attachments by maintaining the function of NDC80 and its interaction with TUBB. This, in turn, promotes KNL1 assembly and subsequent SAC protein recruitment to kinetochores.

CENP-B: Cornerstone of Kinetochores in Centromeres of Human Chromosomes
Each chromosome contains a centromere, the site at which the kinetochore assembles to ensure accurate chromosome segregation during cell division. Centromeric chromatin, which anchors the kinetochore, includes three core proteins: Centromere Protein A ...
