Trace elements species fractionation in rye flour and rye (Secale cereale L.) seedlings [PDF]

open access: yesCzech Journal of Food Sciences, 2009
The fractionation of Cd, Cu, Mo, Ni, and Zn species in extracts of rye (cv. Fernando) seedlings (grown up in both standard and Cd2+-enriched medium) and rye flour was performed by SEC/ICP-MS method. The majority of Cu, Zn, and Ni in all samples were bound in the 1-2 kDa fraction. Molybdenum occurred in all samples in the fraction of 3 kDa.

Demystifying fungal systematics: A gateway to fungal literacy and societal/ecological relevance through familiar species

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Fungal systematics can feel overwhelming given the vast species diversity within this kingdom, with numerous subgroups at every taxonomic rank. This often creates a disconnect between the undertsnidng of fungal taxonomic diversity and their societal relevance.

Cereal rye biomass effects on giant ragweed suppression inform management decisions

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences & Environment
Giant ragweed (Ambrosia trifida L.) has become one of the most troublesome weeds across the US Midwest partially due to its early emergence, high competitiveness, and herbicide resistance evolution. This study aimed to determine the amount of cereal rye (

Cereal Rye Cover Crops, Allelopathy and Corn [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Planting cereal rye as a cover crop provides numerous short- and long-term agronomic and environmental benefits. Although inconsistent, under certain situations the yield of corn planted into the residue of a rye cover crop may be ...

Abundance of Rice Root Aphid Among Selected Plant Species and on Plants Grown With Different Soil-Surface Media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The rice root aphid, Rhopalosiphum rufiabdominalis (Sasaki), is distributed worldwide and colonizes a wide range of plants. However, relatively little is known about the suitability of different host plants, optimal rearing techniques, and the aphid’s ...

The continuing significance of chiral agrochemicals

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 1697-1716, April 2025.
In the time frame 2018–2023, around 43% of the 35 chiral agrochemicals introduced to the market (herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, acaricides, and nematicides) contain one or more stereogenic centers in the molecule, and almost 69% of them have been marketed as racemic mixtures of enantiomers or stereoisomers.

The utilization and apparent ruminal digestibility of dual-purpose food plots for wildlife and cattle grazing

open access: yesOpen Agriculture, 2016
The objective of this study was to examine cattle and deer utilization of nine different varieties of forage cereal grains. Yield and forage quality were also determined as well as apparent ruminal digestibility of select forage cereal grains.

Modelling environmental effects of agriculture : the case of organic rye and grey partridge [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Our optimal control model identifies economic reasons as to why farmland bird populations have dramatically declined in modern agricultural landscapes. By integrating recreational wildlife values into farm level decision-making on arable crop choice and ...

Influence of Heat Treatment Temperature on Crevice and Pitting Corrosion of UNS S32205 Duplex Stainless Steel

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Heat treatments that alter the proportions of austenite and ferrite phases or induce the precipitation of phases such as sigma in duplex stainless steel UNS S32205 make it more susceptible to pitting and crevice corrosion. However, the effects of these treatments are not always evident when analyzed using the cyclic polarization technique.

Integrating fall‐planted cereal rye cover crop with herbicides for reducing Palmer amaranth seed production in soybean under planting green conditions

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences & Environment
Cover crops are usually terminated prior to planting the cash crop; however, “planting green” is an alternative approach that allows growers to plant cash crop into an actively growing, green cover crop, which is then terminated after the establishment ...
