Control of anthocyanin biosynthesis pathway gene expression by eutypine, a toxin from Eutypa lata, in grape cell tissue cultures [PDF]
Eutypine, 4-hydroxy-3-(3-methyl-3-butene-1-ynyl) benzaldehyde, is a toxin produced by Eutypa lata, the causal agent of Eutypa dieback in grapevine. The effect of the toxin on anthocyanin synthesis has been investigated in Vitis vinifera cv.

Phthalocyanine-chalcone conjugates
A phthalocyanine-chalcone conjugate was previously reported to retain the full photodynamic activity of the phthalocyanine and a slightly lowered antivascular effect of the chalcone. Assuming that it was due to an insufficient release of the chalcone, we described here several grafting modes applied to the preparation of phthalocyanine-chalcone ...

Machine Learning Accelerates Crystallization for Structure Determination
Single‐crystal x‐ray diffraction (SCXRD) is often constrained by the difficulty of obtaining suitable crystals. Here, a machine learning‐accelerated co‐crystal discovery workflow is established for a crystalline mate strategy that achieves over 95% prediction accuracy and experimentally delivers 114 co‐crystals from 120 candidates.

Chalcone suppresses tumor growth through NOX4-IRE1α sulfonation-RIDD-miR-23b axis
Chalcone is a polyphenolic compound found abundantly in natural plant components. They have been acclaimed as potential antitumor compounds in multiple tumor cells. However, not much attention has been paid to elucidate its antitumor mechanism of action.

Different 3' end regions strongly influence the level of gene expression in plant cells [PDF]
We have investigated the functional role of a 3' end region on the expression of a reporter gene in plant cells. In stably transformed plants, expression of the reporter gene without a plant gene 3' end is variable and depends on the fortuitous presence ...

The use of transition‐metal catalysts and design of chiral ligands have allowed chemists to access highly functionalized benzofused 5‐ and 6‐ membered rings in high yield and enantioselectivity. A common strategy used relies on an intermolecular carbometalation across alkynes and olefins, usually followed by a subsequent intramolecular carbometalation.

Identification and Functional Characterization of Fungal Chalcone Synthase and Chalcone Isomerase
By mining fungal genomic information, a noncanonical iterative type I PKS fused with an N-terminal adenylation-thiolation didomain, which catalyzes the formation of naringenin chalcone, was found. Structural prediction and molecular docking analysis indicated that a C-terminal thioesterase domain was involved in the Claisen-type cyclization.

How to perform RT-qPCR accurately in plant species?: a case study on flower colour gene expression in an azalea (Rhododendron simsii hybrids) mapping population [PDF]
Background: Flower colour variation is one of the most crucial selection criteria in the breeding of a flowering pot plant, as is also the case for azalea (Rhododendron simsii hybrids).
