Characterization and expression analysis of chalcone synthase and chalcone isomerase genes in Phyllanthus emblica (L.)

Journal of Plant Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 2018
The two decisive enzymes in flavonoid biosynthetic pathway are chalcone synthase (CHS) and chalcone isomerase (CHI), wherein the former carries the first committed step of the pathway and later is involved in isomerization of chalcone. In the present study, full-length cDNA sequence of both the genes (PeCHS and PeCHI) from Phyllanthus emblica (L.) were

Genetic control of chalcone isomerase activity in flowers of Dianthus caryophyllus

Biochemical Genetics, 1980
In flowers of Dianthus caryophyllus (carnation), the gene I is concerned with a discrete step in flavonoid biosynthesis, Genotypes with recessive (ii) alleles produce yellow flowers, which contain the chalcone isosalipurposide (naringenin-chalcone-2'-glucoside) as the major petal pigment, but in genotypes with wild-type alleles flavonols and ...

Genetic control of chalcone isomerase activity in anthers of Petunia hybrida

Planta, 1979
The gene Po in pollen of Petunia hybrida Vilm. controls a discrete step in flavonoid biosynthesis. In recessive genotypes, naringenin-chalcone (4, 2',4',6'-tetrahydroxychalcone) is accumulated, whereas, under the influence of the wild-type allele flavonols and anthocyanins are formed.

[Cloning and function analysis of chalcone isomerase gene and chalcone synthase gene in Lonicera macranthoides].

Zhongguo Zhong yao za zhi = Zhongguo zhongyao zazhi = China journal of Chinese materia medica, 2022
In order to explore the functions of genes of key rate-limiting enzymes chalcone isomerase(CHI) and chalcone synthase(CHS) in the biosynthesis of flavonoids in Lonicera macranthoides, this study screened and cloned the cDNA sequences of CHI and CHS genes from the transcriptome data of conventional variety and 'Xianglei' of L. macranthoides.

Enzymatic Effects on Reactant and Transition States. The Case of Chalcone Isomerase

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2007
Chalcone isomerase catalyzes the transformation of chalcone to naringerin as a part of flavonoid biosynthetic pathways. The global reaction takes place through a conformational change of the substrate followed by chemical reaction, being thus an excellent example to analyze current theories about enzyme catalysis. We here present a detailed theoretical

Isolation and characterization of a maize gene encoding chalcone flavonone isomerase

Molecular and General Genetics MGG, 1994
We report here the first cloning of a chalcone flavonone isomerase gene (CHI) from maize. Northern blot experiments indicate that the maize CHI gene (ZmCHI1) is regulated in the pericarp by the P gene, a myb homologue. The ZmCHI1 gene encodes a 24.3 kDa product 55% and 58% identical to CHI-A and CHI-B from Petunia, respectively.

Accumulation of the chalcone isosalipurposide in primary leaves of barley flavonoid mutants indicates a defective chalcone isomerase

Physiologia Plantarum, 1997
Mutants defective in flavonoid biosynthesis have become increasingly useful in elucidating the potential functions of these compounds in plants. To define the role of flavonoids as UV‐B protectants in barley, we have screened part of the collection of proanthocyanidin‐free barley mutants at the Carlsberg Research Laboratory, Copenhagen, Denmark.

[Cloning and characterization of chalcone synthase and chalcone isomerase genes in Arisaema heterophyllum].

Zhongguo Zhong yao za zhi = Zhongguo zhongyao zazhi = China journal of Chinese materia medica, 2019
Chalcone synthase( CHS) and chalcone isomerase( CHI) are key enzymes in the biosynthesis pathway of flavonoids. In this study, unigenes for CHS and CHI were screened from the transcriptome database of Arisaema heterophyllum. The open reading frame( ORFs) of chalcone synthase( Ah CHS) and chalcone isomerase( Ah CHI) were cloned from the plant by RT-PCR ...

Intron loss in the chalcone-flavanone isomerase gene of rye

Molecular Breeding, 2014
The Chi gene encodes the flavonoid synthesis enzyme chalcone-flavanone isomerase. The complete coding sequence of the Chi gene was isolated by PCR from four cultivars of cereal rye (Secale cereale L.). Unlike most monocot and dicot plant species, S. cereale has one, rather than three introns in the Chi gene.

Enzymatic Conversion of Flavonoids using Bacterial Chalcone Isomerase and Enoate Reductase

Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 2013
AbstractFlavonoids are a large group of plant secondary metabolites with a variety of biological properties and are therefore of interest to many scientists, as they can lead to industrially interesting intermediates. The anaerobic gut bacterium Eubacterium ramulus can catabolize flavonoids, but until now, the pathway has not been experimentally ...
