Geometrically Encoded Positioning of Introns, Intergenic Segments, and Exons in the Human Genome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces a new hypothesis: exons, introns, and intergenic segments are non‐random projections of the functional layers of 3D structure of chromatin packing domains. Evidence is presented that this “geometric code” may encode volumetric structure, reconciling epigenetic patterns, correlates with oncogenic mutations, acting as a potential ...

Ubiquitin-Specific Peptidase 22 Contributes to Colorectal Cancer Stemness and Chemoresistance via Wnt/β-Catenin Pathway

open access: yesCellular Physiology and Biochemistry, 2018
Background/Aims: Two major barriers to the successful treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC) are the development of stem cell-like characteristics (stemness) and chemoresistance.

Positive Feedback Loop of Histone Lactylation‐Driven HNRNPC Promotes Autophagy to Confer Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma Gemcitabine Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Histone 3 lysine18 lactylation (H3K18la) drives heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein C (HNRNPC) overexpression, activating autophagy to mediate gemcitabine resistance by stabilizing TNF receptor‐associated factor 6 (TRAF6) mRNA. Concurrently, HNRNPC stabilizes aldehyde dehydrogenase 1 family member A3 (ALDH1A3) mRNA, which enhances glycolysis and ...

Advances in the Relationship between MicroRNA and Cisplatin Resistance
of Lung Cancer

open access: yesChinese Journal of Lung Cancer, 2014
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of small, about 22 nucleotides endogenous noncoding RNAs that negatively regulate their target genes’ expression through post-transcriptional suppression.

Consequences of cell-to-cell P-glycoprotein transfer on acquired multidrug resistance in breast cancer: a cell population dynamics model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Cancer is a proliferation disease affecting a genetically unstable cell population, in which molecular alterations can be somatically inherited by genetic, epigenetic or extragenetic transmission processes, leading to a cooperation of neoplastic cells ...

Chemoresistance and chemosensitization in cholangiocarcinoma

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Molecular Basis of Disease, 2018
One of the main difficulties in the management of patients with advanced cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is their poor response to available chemotherapy. This is the result of powerful mechanisms of chemoresistance (MOC) of quite diverse nature that usually act synergistically.

Small Nucleolar RNA Snord17 Promotes Self‐Renewal of Intestinal Stem Cells through Yy2 mRNA Export and Tead4 Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Snord17, through interaction with Thoc3, promotes nuclear export and translation of Yy2 mRNA in Snord17+/+ ISCs. The Yy2 protein subsequently binds the Tead4 promoter to promote its transcription, activating Hippo signaling, which is essential for ISC maintenance.

Fatty acid receptor GPR120 promotes breast cancer chemoresistance by upregulating ABC transporters expression and fatty acid synthesisResearch in context

open access: yesEBioMedicine, 2019
Background: Chemoresistance is the major cause of neoadjuvant treatment failure in breast cancer patients. Despite recent progress, the mechanism underlying chemoresistance remains to be further defined.

New markers for human ovarian cancer that link platinum resistance to the cancer stem cell phenotype and define new therapeutic combinations and diagnostic tools [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BACKGROUND: Ovarian cancer is the leading cause of gynecologic cancer-related death, due in part to a late diagnosis and a high rate of recurrence. Primary and acquired platinum resistance is related to a low response probability to subsequent lines of ...
