Inhibition of Escherichia coli chemotaxis by omega-conotoxin, a calcium ion channel blocker [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Escherichia coli chemotaxis was inhibited by omega-conotoxin, a calcium ion channel blocker. With Tris-EDTA-permeabilized cells, nanomolar levels of omega-conotoxin inhibited chemotaxis without loss of motility.

A new class of protein sensor links spirochete pleomorphism, persistence, and chemotaxis

open access: yesmBio, 2023
Pathogenic spirochetes can alter their morphologies and behaviors to infect and survive within their hosts. Previous reports demonstrate that the formation of the so-called “round bodies” and biofilms, and chemotaxis are involved in spirochete ...

On an exponential attractor for a class of PDEs with degenerate diffusion and chemotaxis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In this article we deal with a class of strongly coupled parabolic systems that encompasses two different effects: degenerate diffusion and chemotaxis.

Distinct Chemotaxis Protein Paralogs Assemble into Chemoreceptor Signaling Arrays To Coordinate Signaling Output

open access: yesmBio, 2019
Most chemotactic motile bacteria possess multiple chemotaxis signaling systems, the functions of which are not well characterized. Chemotaxis signaling is initiated by chemoreceptors that assemble as large arrays, together with chemotaxis coupling ...

Tracking bifurcating solutions of a model biological pattern generator [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
We study heterogeneous steady-state solutions of a cell-chemotaxis model for generating biological spatial patterns in two-dimensional domains with zero flux boundary conditions.

Bacterial chemotaxis: a way forward to aromatic compounds biodegradation

open access: yesEnvironmental Sciences Europe, 2020
Worldwide industrial development has released hazardous polycyclic aromatic compounds into the environment. These pollutants need to be removed to improve the quality of the environment.

Chemotaxis and autochemotaxis of self-propelling droplet swimmers [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 2016
Significance Statement Chemotaxis and autochemotaxis are key mechanisms in the dynamics of microorganisms, e.g., in the acquisition of nutrients and in the communication between individuals, as well as influencing their collective behavior.

The Novel Functions of the PLC/PKC/PKD Signaling Axis in G Protein-Coupled Receptor-Mediated Chemotaxis of Neutrophils

open access: yesJournal of Immunology Research, 2015
Chemotaxis, a directional cell migration guided by extracellular chemoattractant gradients, plays an essential role in the recruitment of neutrophils to sites of inflammation.

Chemotaxis in Childhood [PDF]

open access: yesPediatric Research, 1983
Developmental aspects of monocyte and neutrophil chemotaxis were evaluated by the agarose and the Boyden chamber methods. Simultaneous measurements of both the distances and the cell counts were carried out by the agarose method. Before 6 years of age monocyte chemotaxis values, determined by the Boyden chamber method, were significantly lower than ...

Sperm chemotaxis in marine invertebrates and mammals

open access: yesReproductive and Developmental Medicine, 2017
Sperm respond to multiple chemical factors derived from the eggs and reorient their migratory direction – a process called chemotaxis. The chemotaxis of sperm in marine invertebrates has been established well.
