Role of cholesterol 25 hydroxylase in fibrotic posterior capsular opacification
2020Posterior capsular opacification (PCO), a common fibrotic complication of cataract surgery, is a disease which arises from epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) of residual lens epithelial cells (LECs) within the lens capsule. The cells migrate toward the posterior capsule and form scar tissue, obstructing the visual axis and forming a secondary ...

Antiviral role of cholesterol 25-hydroxylase in inhibiting porcine circovirus 3 replication
Veterinary MicrobiologyCholesterol 25-hydroxylase (CH25H) has significant antiviral effects through the production of 25-hydroxycholesterol (25HC). In this study, we investigated the effects of CH25H, its catalytic product 25HC, and its catalytic mutant lacking hydroxylase activity (CH25H-M) on porcine circovirus 3 (PCV3) replication.

Vitamin D3 plays an important role in the control of cell proliferation and differentiation. Cholesterol 25-hydroxylase (CH25H) is an enzyme converting cholesterol into 25-hydroxycholesterol. Vitamin D3 as well as 25-hydroxycholesterol has been shown to inhibit cell growth and induce cell apoptosis.

Diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) is the leading cause of mortality in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients, with its underlying mechanisms still elusive. This study aims to investigate the role of cholesterol-25-monooxygenase (CH25H) in T2DM induced cardiomyopathy.High fat diet combined with streptozotocin (HFD/STZ) were used to establish a T2DM model.
