Rationale for cholesteryl ester transfer protein inhibition [PDF]
Raising HDL cholesterol (HDL-C) has become an attractive therapeutic target to lower cardiovascular risk in addition to statins. Inhibition of the cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP), which mediates the transfer of cholesteryl esters from HDL to apolipoprotein B-containing particles, leads to a substantial increase in HDL-C levels.

Two kinds of self‐assembled RNA micelles were used to co‐deliver synergistic siRNA and nucleoside analogues for the treatment of colorectal cancer lung metastases. Near‐complete elimination of lung cancer metastases was confirmed in an orthotopic lung metastasis model constructed using human colorectal cancer lung metastases patient surgical samples to

Reduced cholesteryl ester transfer in plasma of patients with lipoprotein lipase deficiency.
The net mass transfer of cholesteryl ester (CE) from high density lipoprotein (HDL) to the apolipoprotein (apo) B-containing lipoproteins, very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) and low density lipoprotein (LDL) in plasma (cholesteryl ester transfer (CET ...

Meta-analysis of genes in commercially available nutrigenomic tests denotes lack of association with dietary intake and nutrient-related pathologies [PDF]
Nutrigenomics is an emerging discipline that aims to investigate how individual genetic composition correlates with dietary intake, as well as how nutrition influences gene expression.

Human participants with early‐ or chronic‐stage tendinopathy and healthy controls are investigated using ultrasound Doppler, 3T and 7T MRI, and tendon biopsies. Tendon swelling and hyperperfusion are evident early, while vascular growth and extracellular matrix changes are most pronounced in chronic tendinopathy. Early intervention may provide superior

Changes to cholesterol trafficking in macrophages by Leishmania parasites infection [PDF]
Leishmania spp. are protozoan parasites that are transmitted by sandfly vectors during blood sucking to vertebrate hosts and cause a spectrum of diseases called leishmaniases.

In Situ Lipoprotein‐seeking Dye for in Vivo Real‐Time Imaging of Lipid Dysregulation Diseases
This study develops lipoprotein‐seeking NIR‐II dyes that specifically bind circulating lipoproteins. These dyes form ultra‐stable complexes with endogenous lipoprotein, enabling real‐time, high‐contrast imaging of fatty liver and atherosclerotic plaques. Tunable binding kinetics allow customized imaging windows.
