Disordered Bile Acid Metabolism in Alcohol‐Related Hepatitis

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 63, Issue 12, Page 1658-1672, June 2026.
Serum conjugated primary bile acids accumulate in alcohol‐related hepatitis due to downregulation of hepatocyte bile acid transporters. Hepatocyte growth factor is elevated in alcohol‐related hepatitis and downregulates BSEP expression. This detrimentally affects the hepatoprotective adaptive reduction in NTCP/increase in BSEP seen in cholestasis ...

The Relative Emulsifying Values of the Bile Acids, Cholic, Desoxycholic, Dehydrocholic and Glycocholic Acids, on Various Fatty Acids

open access: yes, 1947
The present investigation is a comparative study of the relative emulsifying value of the principal bile acids, cholic acid, desoxycholic, dehydrocholic acid, the bile salts, sodium glycocholate and sodium taurocholate on the fatty acids most commonly ...

Mitochondrial‐Haplotype Influences Plasma Metabolome, Lipidome, and Proteome in a Sex Specific Manner in the Genetically Heterogenous OKC‐HETB/W Rat

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 10, 31 May 2026.
Multi‐omics profiling uncovers the effect of sex and mitochondrial‐haplotype on molecular fingerprints of aging in plasma. ABSTRACT The effect of mitochondrial‐haplotype (mt‐haplotype) on aging was studied using a unique rat model (OKC‐HETB/W), which has a heterogenous nuclear background combined with mitochondria from either Brown Norway (B‐haplotype)

Biliary bile acids, bile alcohols, and sterols of Alligator mississippiensis.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1980
Bile from Alligator mississippiensis was found to contain a mixture of more than twenty bile acids, bile alcohols, and neutral sterols. Bile acids and bile alcohols were purified by reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography and thin-layer ...

Enantioselective inclusion in bile acids: Resolution of cyclic ketones

open access: yes, 2001
Cholic and deoxycholic acids were found to form inclusion compounds with various racemic cyclic ketones enabling direct and straightforward enantiomer separation. The X-ray structure of the 2:1 inclusion complex between (-)-bicyclo[3.2.0]-hept-2-en-6-one

On the Tensammetric Wave of Cholic Acid

open access: yesNippon kagaku zassi, 1967

Enzymatic fluorimetric determination of cholic acid and chenodeoxycholic acid in aqueous solutions and blood serum using a differential kinetic method

open access: yes, 1984
An enzymatic fluorimetric method is described for the determination of chenodeoxycholic acid and its conjugates and of cholic acid and its conjugates in aqueous solutions and serum. The method is based on the oxidation of 7 α-hydroxy bile acids by β-NAD+

Between Peptides and Bile Acids: Self-Assembly of Phenylalanine Substituted Cholic Acids

open access: yes, 2016
Biocompatible molecules that undergo self-assembly are of high importance in biological and medical applications of nanoscience. Peptides and bile acids are among the most investigated due to their ability to self-organize into many different, often ...
