Dexime: A Selectively Enzyme‐Degradable Hydrogel for Protein Therapeutic Release

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A dextrin‐oxime hydrogel (dexime) is produced using ketone or aldehyde modified dextrin and tetra‐oxyamine modified poly(ethylene glycol). The rheological and mechanical properties of dexime are tunable. Dexime is injectable, cytocompatible, hydrolytically stable, and selectively degradable by α‐amylase.

Characteristics of sulfated glycosaminoglycans in the cartilage tissue of skate and sturgeon

open access: yesИзвестия ТИНРО, 2023
Sulfated glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) or chondroitin sulfates were obtained from the cartilage tissue of skate (indefinite species) and sturgeon (kaluga) under the processes of hydrothermal treatment of raw materials at 50 оC, then hydrolysis with ...

Thiolated Polymers in 3D Bioprinting: Control of Gelation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Thiolated polymers are established as programmable bioinks for 3D bioprinting, integrating versatile crosslinking chemistries with redox‐responsive control. This work demonstrates how molecular design and external triggers define gelation kinetics, printability windows, and structural fidelity, enabling stable, high‐resolution constructs and advancing ...

Analytical aspects of pharmaceutical grade chondroitin sulfates

open access: yes, 2007
Chondroitin sulfate is a very heterogeneous polysaccharide in terms of relative molecular mass, charge density, chemical properties, biological and pharmacological activities. It is actually recommended by EULAR as a symptomatic slow acting drug (SYSADOA)

Chlorination and oxidation of heparin and hyaluronan by hypochlorous acid and hypochlorite anions: effect of sulfate groups on reaction pathways and kinetics. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Hypochlorous acid (HOCl), produced in inflammatory conditions by the enzyme myeloperoxidase, and its anion hypochlorite (OCl(-)) exist in vivo at almost equal concentrations.

Tunable 3D‐Printed Static Mixers for Gradient Bioprinting With High Cell Viability

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The fabrication of native tissue‐like structures with gradual transitions in material properties, cell types, and growth factors remains a major challenge in biofabrication due to the lack of suitable methods. Mimicking the hierarchical organization of living tissues is essential for functional models, yet creating gradient, multimaterial ...

Sulfation pattern of chondroitin sulfate in human osteoarthritis cartilages reveals a lower level of chondroitin-4-sulfate

open access: yes, 2020
Chondroitin sulfates (CS) account for more than 80% of glycosaminoglycans of articular cartilage, which imparts its physiological functions. We quantified the absolute concentration of the CS components of the full thickness cartilages from the knees of ...

Engineering Osteoimmune Responses with Functionalized Orthopedic Implants for Post‐Operative Osteosarcoma Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Osteosarcoma is the most common primary bone tumor with limited treatment options and a terrible prognosis. This review provides a comprehensive summary of the recent development of osteoimmunomodulatory implants for post‐operative osteosarcoma treatment, of which the potential utility in evoking durable anti‐osteosarcoma immunity and accelerating bone

Targeting nanoparticles to lung cancer-derived A549 cells based on changes on interstitial stiffness in biomimetic models

open access: yesiScience
Summary: The mechanical properties and forces of the extracellular environment modulate alveolar epithelial cell behavior. To model cancer/fibrosis associated stiffening and dynamic stretch, a biomimetic device was developed that imitates the active ...

Fucose-Rich Sulfated Polysaccharides from Two Vietnamese Sea Cucumbers Bohadschia argus and Holothuria (Theelothuria) spinifera: Structures and Anticoagulant Activity

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2022
Fucosylated chondroitin sulfates (FCSs) FCS-BA and FCS-HS, as well as fucan sulfates (FSs) FS-BA-AT and FS-HS-AT were isolated from the sea cucumbers Bohadschia argus and Holothuria (Theelothuria) spinifera, respectively.
