Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

DNA viruses can hijack and manipulate the host chromatin state to facilitate their infection. Multiple lines of evidences reveal that DNA virus infection results in the host chromatin relocation, yet there is little known about the effects of viral ...

Chromatin accessibility: methods, mechanisms, and biological insights
Access to DNA is a prerequisite to the execution of essential cellular processes that include transcription, replication, chromosomal segregation, and DNA repair. How the proteins that regulate these processes function in the context of chromatin and its

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Nature of the Accessible Chromatin at a Glucocorticoid-Responsive Enhancer [PDF]
To gain a better understanding of the nature of active chromatin in mammals, we have characterized in living cells the various chromatin modification events triggered by the glucocorticoid receptor (GR) at the rat tyrosine aminotransferase gene. GR promotes a local remodeling at a glucocorticoid-responsive unit (GRU) located 2.5 kb upstream of the ...

Summary: Cancer phenotypic plasticity is associated with poor prognosis. The mechanisms of phenotypic plasticity are not fully understood. Possibly, the degree of chromatin accessibility defines the easiness of cell transitions between phenotypes.

Chromatin accessibility landscape of relapsed pediatric B-lineage acute lymphoblastic leukemia
For around half of the pediatric B-lineage acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) patients, the molecular mechanism of relapse remains unclear. To fill this gap in knowledge, here we characterize the chromatin accessibility landscape in pediatric relapsed ...
