Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Catching Nucleosome by Its Decorated Tails Determines Its Functional States
The fundamental packaging unit of chromatin, i.e., nucleosome, consists of ∼147 bp of DNA wrapped around a histone octamer composed of the core histones, H2A, H2B, H3, and H4, in two copies each.

Interaction of Chromatin-associated Plk1 and Mcm7 [PDF]
Plk1 is a multifunctional protein kinase involved in regulation of mitotic entry, chromosome segregation, centrosome maturation, and mitotic exit. Plk1 is a target of DNA damage checkpoints and aids resumption of the cell cycle during recovery from G2 arrest.

UNCOVERING THE MECHANISM OF CHROMATIN ASSOCIATION OF THE PAF1 TRANSCRIPTION ELONGATION COMPLEX [PDF]
Paf1C co-localizes with Pol II and influences gene expression by regulating transcription initiation, elongation and termination. Some crucial functions of Paf1C include promoting co-transcriptional histone modifications and recruiting termination ...

Genome organization of DNA replication timing and its link to chromatin and transcription [PDF]
The replication of the genome is a highly organized process. Not every sequence replicates at the same time, instead some genes replicate early, while others replicate later during S phase.

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Chromatin is the template of all processes involved in DNA metabolism in the eukaryotic cell. Accordingly, chromatin is a dynamic structure which changes in its composition and posttranslational modification correlating with the functional state of a ...

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
