NAD+‐Dependent Enzyme SIRT3 Limits Intestinal Epithelial Cell Functions Through NAD+ Synthesis Pathway in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microbiota‐derived quinolinic acid is used as an alternative source of replenishing the intracellular NAD+ pool induced by SIRT3 deficiency to regulate intestinal epithelial cell and T cell function, which has implications for targeting intestinal epithelial cells as an approach to the treatment of immune‐associated diseases, including colorectal ...

Comparison of microRNA expression in high-count monoclonal B-cell lymphocytosis and Binet A chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Hematologia e Hemoterapia
Background Evidence suggests that monoclonal B-cell lymphocytosis precedes all chronic lymphocytic leukemia cases, although the molecular mechanisms responsible for disease progression are not understood.

Akt inhibitors induce apoptosis in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cells

open access: yesHaematologica, 2009
Background The phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase/Akt pathway has been described to be critical in the survival of chronic lymphocytic leukemia cells. In this study we analyzed the effect of two selective chemical inhibitors of Akt (Akti-1/2 and A-443654) on ...

Direct admission to the intensive care unit from the emergency department and mortality in critically ill hematology patients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Background: The aim of this study was to assess the benefit of direct ICU admission from the emergency department (ED) compared to admission from wards, in patients with hematological malignancies requiring critical care.

SnapShot: Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia

open access: yesCancer Cell, 2014
Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is the most common leukemia among adults in western countries. This SnapShot depicts the origins and evolution of this B cell malignancy, describes prognostic factors and CLL animal models, and illustrates therapies in preclinical and clinical development against CLL.

PBRM1 Deficiency Reshapes an Immune Suppressive Microenvironment Through Epigenetic Tuning of PBRM1‐KDM5C‐IL6 Axis in ccRCC

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PBRM1 ranks as the second most commonly mutated gene in ccRCC. This study reveals that PBRM1 loss promotes an immunosuppressive microenvironment by elevating M2 TAMs via the KDM5C–IL‐6 axis. These M2 TAMs, along with CAFs, form a barrier that excludes CD8+ T cells. Targeting IL‐6 synergizes with anti‐PD1 therapy, offering a promising strategy for PBRM1‐

Malignant progression of liver cancer progenitors requires lysine acetyltransferase 7–acetylated and cytoplasm‐translocated G protein GαS

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
KAT7‐acetylated and cytoplasm‐translocated G‐protein GαS enhances IL‐6 effect and drives HCC progenitor cell progression. Abstract Background and Aims Hepatocarcinogenesis goes through HCC progenitor cells (HcPCs) to fully established HCC, and the mechanisms driving the development of HcPCs are still largely unknown.

Cranial aspergillosis in a patient receiving ibrutinib for chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesMedical Mycology Case Reports, 2019
Cerebral abscess due to Aspergillus species is a relatively uncommon presentation, even amongst immunocompromised patients. However it is increasingly being recognized as a complication of ibrutinib therapy in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia ...

Risk Factors of White Blood Cell Progression Among Patients With Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia at Felege Hiwot Referral Hospital, Bahir Dar, Ethiopia

open access: yesCancer Informatics, 2022
Background: Leukemia is a type of cancers that start in the bone marrow and produce a serious number of abnormal white blood cells. Bleeding and bruising problems, fatigue, fever, and an increased risk of infection are among symptoms of the disease.

Identification of Bruton's tyrosine kinase as a therapeutic target in acute myeloid leukemia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK) is a cytoplasmic protein found in all hematopoietic cell lineages except for T cells. BTK mediates signalling downstream of a number of receptors.
