Involvement of memory T-cells in the pathophysiology of chronic lymphocytic leukemia
The role of T-cells in the pathogenesis of chronic lymphocytic leukemia has recently gained much attention due to the importance of the constant interaction between neoplastic B-cells with microenvironment substratum and T-cells.

Lack of extensive mutations in the VH5 genes used in common B cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia. [PDF]
B cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is a malignancy of the CD5+ B cells. Prior studies indicated that CLL B cells generally express immunoglobulin (Ig) VH and VL genes with little or no somatic mutations.

In chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), TP53 gene defects, due to deletion of the 17p13 locus and/or mutation(s) within the TP53 gene, are associated with resistance to chemoimmunotherapy and a particularly dismal clinical outcome.

The Pathogenesis of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia [PDF]
Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is characterized by the clonal expansion of CD5+CD23+ B cells in blood, marrow, and second lymphoid tissues. Gene-expression profiling and phenotypic studies suggest that CLL is probably derived from CD5+ B cells similar to those found in the blood of healthy adults.

Clinical Characteristics of Parkinsonism in HTLV‐1‐Associated Myelopathy
ABSTRACT Objective Human T‐lymphotropic virus type 1 (HTLV‐1)‐associated myelopathy/tropical spastic paraparesis (HAM/TSP) is the classic neurological manifestation of HTLV‐1 infection; however, this virus has also been associated with other neurological disorders. Concurrent parkinsonism is relatively rare and presents diagnostic challenges.
