Anti-diabetic Properties of Chrysophanol and Its Glucoside from Rhubarb Rhizome

open access: yesBiological and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 2008
An ethanol extract of rhubarb rhizome exhibited marked glucose transport activity in differentiated L6 rat myotubes. Activity-guided fractionation resulted in the isolation of two anthraquinones, chrysophanol-8-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (1) and chrysophanol (2).

Active compound chrysophanol of Cassia tora seeds suppresses heat-induced lipogenesis via inactivation of JNK/p38 MAPK signaling in human sebocytes

open access: yesLipids in Health and Disease, 2019
Background Heat induced by infrared (IR) radiation from sun exposure increases skin temperature and can lead to thermal and photo-aging. However, little is known about the relationship between heat induced by IR radiation and lipid biosynthesis in human ...

Tianma Granules Alleviate AOM/DSS‐Induced Colorectal Tumorigenesis by Inhibiting the Wnt/β‐Catenin Pathway Activation

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 29, Issue 15, August 2025.
ABSTRACT This study aimed to investigate the anti‐tumour effect and the possible molecular mechanism of Tianma granules on colorectal cancer (CRC). The therapeutic effect of Tianma granules on CRC cell lines (HT116 and SW480) and AOM/DSS‐induced CRC mouse models was evaluated.

Disintegration of the KITENIN/ErbB4 Functional Complex by the Flavonoid Hispidulin Suppresses Colorectal Cancer Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Therapeutics, Volume 8, Issue 7, July 2025.
Hispidulin disrupts the KITENIN/ErbB4 oncogenic complex and inhibits KITENIN‐mediated AP‐1 activity, cell invasion, and aerobic glycolysis. It also suppresses the production of cancer‐associated metabolites and downregulates transcriptional regulators downstream of the KITENIN complex.

AComparative Qualitative and Quantitative Study of Anthraquinone Derivatives in the Roots of Rheum ribes and Rheum emodi by HPLC

open access: yesIraqi Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2017
High performance liquid chromatography was applied for the separation and identification of four antharquinone derivatives, aloe emodin, emodin, chrysophanol and physcion. The separation was carried out using Eurospher 100, C18 column (4.6 mm i.d.

Hepatotoxicity and mechanism study of chrysophanol-8-O-glucoside in vitro

open access: yesBiomedicine & Pharmacotherapy, 2019
To better understand the hepatotoxicity of anthraquinone glycosides, the hepatotoxicity of six anthraquinone glycosides was evaluated. The results show that chrysophanol-8-O-glucoside(C8G) has strong hepatotoxicity and can lead to increased LDH leakage and ROS, decreased GSH and MMP in L-02 hepatocytes.

Chrysophanol attenuates lead exposure-induced injury to hippocampal neurons in neonatal mice

open access: yesNeural Regeneration Research, 2014
Previous studies have shown that chrysophanol protects against learning and memory impairments in lead-exposed adult mice. In the present study, we investigated whether chrysophanol can alleviate learning and memory dysfunction and hippocampal neuronal injury in lead-exposed neonatal mice.
