A scalable workflow for sensitive detection and genomic profiling of tumour cells in lymph nodes from FFPE tissue

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology, EarlyView.
Abstract Accurate detection of lymph node (LN) metastases is critical for prognosis and surgical decision‐making in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and other epithelial cancers. Standard histopathology examines only a small fraction of LN tissue, limiting sensitivity for micrometastases and isolated tumour cells.

Liquid Biopsy: Current Status and Future Perspective in Gastric Cancer and Helicobacter Infection

open access: yesThe Korean Journal of Helicobacter and Upper Gastrointestinal Research, 2018
Precision medicine stands for 4Ps – precise, preventive, participatory, and personal; in which “precision” is important because the current modern medicine starts from “trial and error,” and “one does not fit all”.

Circulating Tumor Cell Synaptophysin and Androgen Receptor Expression Reflect Prostate Cancer Phenotypes in Metastatic Disease

open access: yesThe Prostate, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic exposure to androgen receptor (AR)‐targeted therapies can drive lineage plasticity, leading to treatment resistance and neuroendocrine prostate cancer (NEPC), characterized by loss of AR expression and acquisition of neuroendocrine (NE) markers including synaptophysin (SYP). We evaluated concordance between circulating tumor

Thrombocytosis and tumour distribution predict outcome in dogs with hepatocellular carcinoma: A multi‐institutional retrospective analysis

open access: yesVeterinary Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common canine hepatobiliary tumour. This study aimed to determine which criteria influenced outcome of HCC in a modern population of dogs across eight institutions. Methods The medical records of 106 dogs with HCC were retrospectively reviewed.

The nitty‐gritty of vascular permeability in cancer: targeting blood endothelium to control metastases

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Blood vascular permeability is a hallmark of cancer and acts as an active driver of metastatic dissemination. Metastasis accounts for the vast majority of cancer deaths, yet most work has focussed on tumour‐intrinsic traits and angiogenesis, while the specific contribution of endothelial barrier regulation to intravasation and extravasation remains ...

Selection of Metastatic Breast Cancer Cell-Specific Aptamers for the Capture of CTCs with a Metastatic Phenotype by Cell-SELEX

open access: yesMolecular Therapy: Nucleic Acids, 2018
Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) have the potential to predict metastasis, and the capture of CTCs based on their surface markers is mostly applied for CTC detection.

Circulating Tumor Cells in Breast Cancer Patients Treated by Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy: A Meta-analysis.

open access: yes, 2018
We conducted a meta-analysis in nonmetastatic breast cancer patients treated by neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NCT) to assess the clinical validity of circulating tumor cell (CTC) detection as a prognostic marker.SCOPUS: ar.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics ...

Liquid Biopsy and Multi‐Cancer Early Detection Tests for Cancer Screening: A Scoping Review

open access: yesClinical Genetics, EarlyView.
There is a large body of evidence on liquid biopsy and multi‐cancer detection tests for cancer screening. Most studies addressed test performance outcomes, while fewer addressed clinical outcomes, implementation, and cost‐effectiveness. No studies evaluated cancer mortality.
