Deciphering the soybean root rot pathogen Phytophthora sojae: Signaling pathways, transcriptional regulation, and effector biology

open access: yesNew Plant Protection, Volume 3, Issue 2, June 2026.
This review highlights how Phytophthora sojae utilizes unconventional lineage‐specific signaling networks, including unique G protein‐coupled receptor fusions, expanded kinases, and rapidly evolving effectors, to infect soybeans. Understanding these divergent molecular paradigms reveals critical vulnerabilities in this destructive pathogen, offering ...

CK1/Doubletime activity delays transcription activation in the circadian clock

open access: yeseLife, 2018
In the Drosophila circadian clock, Period (PER) and Timeless (TIM) proteins inhibit Clock-mediated transcription of per and tim genes until PER is degraded by Doubletime/CK1 (DBT)-mediated phosphorylation, establishing a negative feedback loop. Multiple regulatory delays within this feedback loop ensure ~24 hr periodicity.

Activation of p53: How phosphorylated Ser15 triggers sequential phosphorylation of p53 at Thr18 by CK1$

open access: yes, 2022
The N-terminal transactivation domain (TAD) of p53 is a disordered region with multiple phosphorylation sites. Phosphorylation at Thr18 is crucial for the release of p53 from its negative regulator, MDM2.

A Lavandula angustifolia flower extract and dipeptide‐4 blend modulates oxidative, glycative, autophagic and circadian pathways in human skin models

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, Volume 48, Issue 3, Page 477-488, June 2026.
The blend enhanced antioxidation, anti‐glycation, autophagy and circadian regulation in cell and skin models. Key markers included mitochondrial ROS, γ‐H2AX, AGEs, ATP, melatonin, LC3 and SOD. Significant improvements were visualized via fluorescence and quantified with statistical markers.

D4476, a cell-permeant inhibitor of CK1, suppresses the site-specific phosphorylation and nuclear exclusion of FOXO1a

open access: yes, 2004
The protein kinase CK1 phosphorylates serine residues that are located close to another phosphoserine in the consensus pSer-Xaa-Xaa-Ser. This specificity generates regions in its target proteins containing two or more neighbouring phosphoserine residues,

Phosphorylation, disorder, and phase separation govern the behavior of Frequency in the fungal circadian clock

open access: yeseLife
Circadian clocks are composed of transcription-translation negative feedback loops that pace rhythms of gene expression to the diurnal cycle. In the filamentous fungus Neurospora crassa, the proteins Frequency (FRQ), the FRQ-interacting RNA helicase (FRH)

FvMAPK6‐Mediated FvMYB44s/FvSWEET1 Dual‐Layer Regulation Modulates Sugar Accumulation in Strawberry Fruit, With FvSPS3 Enabling Quality–Yield Balance

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 6, Page 4221-4239, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Sugar content is a key determinant of fruit quality, and sugars also act as signalling molecules that regulate ripening processes, including anthocyanin accumulation. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying sugar accumulation and sugar signal‐mediated ripening remain incompletely understood.

Nicotinamide and Pyridoxine Supplementation Enhances Muscle Stem Cell Activity and Muscle Regeneration in Humans: A Randomized Placebo‐Controlled Clinical Trial of High Force Eccentric Contraction Recovery in Healthy Young Men

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 28, 18 May 2026.
In a randomized clinical trial, we test the potential of combined nicotinamide (NAM) and pyridoxine (PN) to improve muscle recovery through muscle stem cell (MuSC) activity. Daily oral NAM and PN supplementation after high intensity muscle contractions enhances MuSC activation and differentiation, and accelerates muscle regeneration, providing new ...

Phosphorylation of RhoB by CK1 impedes actin stress fiber organization and epidermal growth factor receptor stabilization

open access: yes, 2008
RhoB is a small GTPase implicated in cytoskeletal organization, EGF receptor trafficking and cell transformation. It is an immediate-early gene, regulated at many levels of its biosynthetic pathway. Herein we show that the serine/threonine protein kinase
