Olfactory Bulb Volume and Function Recovery in Eosinophilic Chronic Rhinosinusitis

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
This study investigated perioperative changes in olfactory bulb volume (OBV) in patients with eosinophilic chronic rhinosinusitis using high‐resolution 3T MRI. Postoperative increases in OBV were associated with improvements in olfactory identification, suggesting a potential link between olfactory bulb structural plasticity and functional recovery ...

Role of MIC levels and 23S rRNA mutation sites to clarithromycin in 14-day clarithromycin bismuth quadruple therapy for Helicobacter pylori eradication: A prospective trial in Beijing

open access: yesHeliyon
Background: Rising clarithromycin resistance undermines Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) treatment efficacy. We aimed to determine clarithromycin's minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) levels and identify specific mutation sites in the 23S ribosomal ...

Resistance to clarithromycin and genotypes in Helicobacter pylori strains isolated in Sicily [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The resistance of Helicobacter pylori strains to clarithromycin is increasing in several developed countries and their association with a genetic pattern circulation has been variously explained as related to different geographical areas.

Computational Study on Potentially Active Antibacterial Compounds in Secondary Metabolites of Extremophilic Microorganisms

open access: yesChemistryOpen, EarlyView.
This study employed density functional theory (DFT) and conceptual DFT (CDFT) to calculate the structures and properties of potential antibacterial compounds derived from 16‐membered lactone ring‐containing secondary metabolites of extremophiles, as well as midecamycin.

Efficacy and safety of clarithromycin as treatment for Mediterranean spotted fever in children: a randomized controlled trial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Fifty-one children with Mediterranean spotted fever (MSF) were randomized to receive either clarithromycin, 15 mg/kg/day orally in 2 divided doses, or chloramphenicol, 50 mg/kg/day orally in 4 divided doses, for 7 days.

Development of a physiologically‐based pharmacokinetic model for Ritonavir characterizing exposure and drug interaction potential at both acute and steady‐state conditions

open access: yesCPT: Pharmacometrics &Systems Pharmacology, Volume 14, Issue 3, Page 523-539, March 2025.
Abstract Ritonavir (RTV) is a potent CYP3A inhibitor that is widely used as a pharmacokinetic (PK) enhancer to increase exposure to select protease inhibitors. However, as a strong and complex perpetrator of CYP3A interactions, RTV can also enhance the exposure of other co‐administered CYP3A substrates, potentially causing toxicity.

Comparison of the impact of Helicobacter pylori eradication treatment with bismuth and non-bismuth quadruple regimens on the gut microbiota [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiota in Health and Disease, 2019
Background: Helicobacter pylori eradication requires a combination of antibiotics. The short and long-term effect of different H. pylori eradication regimens on the gut microbiota has received little attention.
