Class 2 integrons dissemination among multidrug resistance (MDR) clones of Acinetobacter baumannii [PDF]
Acinetobacter baumannii has emerged as a serious problem in the hospital environment at a global scale. Previous results from our laboratory showed a high frequency of class 2 integrons in A.

The Impacts of Triclosan on Anaerobic Community Structures, Function, and Antimicrobial Resistance [PDF]
Triclosan is a widespread antimicrobial agent that accumulates in anaerobic digesters used to treat the residual solids generated at municipal wastewater treatment plants; there is very little information, however, about how triclosan impacts microbial ...

The Evolution of Class 1 Integrons and the Rise of Antibiotic Resistance [PDF]
ABSTRACTClass 1 integrons are central players in the worldwide problem of antibiotic resistance, because they can capture and express diverse resistance genes. In addition, they are often embedded in promiscuous plasmids and transposons, facilitating their lateral transfer into a wide range of pathogens.

Multidrug‐resistant enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (MDR‐EPEC) were investigated in retail chicken meat from Bangladesh. Molecular confirmation, antibiogram profiling, and resistance gene detection revealed universal multidrug resistance with high MAR indices, indicating intense antimicrobial pressure and highlighting significant food safety and ...

Class 1 and class 2 integrons in avian pathogenic Escherichia coli from poultry in Italy
The aim of this study was to investigate the occurrence of class 1 and 2 integrons in avian pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC) from poultry in northern Italy. Strains were tested for phenotypic resistance to aminoglycosides and sulphonamides, and the association between the presence of integrons and the resistance to these antimicrobials was evaluated.

Pathogenic Vibrio species isolated from aquaculture environments in low‐ and middle‐income countries exhibit elevated antimicrobial resistance and multiple virulence traits. These findings highlight significant risks to fish health and food safety, underscoring the need for strengthened antimicrobial stewardship, robust biosecurity measures and ...
