The effect of Clostridium tyrobutyricum Spo0A overexpression in the intestine of mice

Beneficial Microbes, 2020
Clostridium tyrobutyricum shows probiotic properties and can affect the composition of gut microbiota and regulate the intestinal immune system. Compared with other probiotics, this spore-producing bacterium shows unparalleled advantages in commercial production.

Nanomechanical analysis of Clostridium tyrobutyricum spores

Micron, 2010
In this work we report on the measurement of the Young modulus of the external surface of Clostridium tyrobutyricum spores in air with an atomic force microscope. The Young modulus can be reliably measured despite the strong tip-spore adhesion forces and the need to immobilize the spores due to their slipping on most substrates.

De novo biosynthesis of butyl butyrate in engineered Clostridium tyrobutyricum

Metabolic Engineering, 2023
Butyl butyrate has broad applications in foods, cosmetics, solvents, and biofuels. Microbial synthesis of bio-based butyl butyrate has been regarded as a promising approach recently. Herein, we engineered Clostridium tyrobutyricum ATCC 25755 to achieve de novo biosynthesis of butyl butyrate from fermentable sugars.

Enhanced butanol production by coculture of Clostridium beijerinckii and Clostridium tyrobutyricum

Bioresource Technology, 2013
Cocultures of Clostridium beijerinckii and Clostridium tyrobutyricum in free-cell and immobilized-cell fermentation modes were investigated as a means of enhancing butanol production. The immobilized fermentation was performed in a fibrous-bed bioreactor (FBB). The results demonstrated that two-strain coculture significantly enhanced butanol production,

Biosynthesis of butyric acid by Clostridium tyrobutyricum

Preparative Biochemistry & Biotechnology, 2018
Butyric acid (C3H7COOH) is an important chemical that is widely used in foodstuffs along with in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. The bioproduction of butyric acid through large-scale fermentation has the potential to be more economical and efficient than petrochemical synthesis.

Menadione reductase from Clostridium tyrobutyricum

Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1980
Menadione reductase (EC 1.6.99.2) has been purified 67-fold from Clostridium tyrobutyricum extracts. The molecular weight was found to be 60 000 and the prosthetic group was identified as FMN on the basis of the enzymatic analysis data. The binding of FMN to the menadione dehydrogenase apoenzyme was relatively weak with an apparent Km value of 2.5 ...
