The ATPase ClpX is conditionally involved in the morphological differentiation of Streptomyces lividans

open access: yesMolecular Genetics and Genomics, 2003
ATP-dependent proteases of the ClpP type are widespread in eubacteria. These proteolytic complexes are composed of a proteolytic subunit and an ATPase subunit. They are involved in the degradation of denatured proteins, but also play a role in specific regulatory pathways.

The AAA+ ClpX machine unfolds a keystone subunit to remodel the Mu transpososome [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 2010
A hyperstable complex of the tetrameric MuA transposase with recombined DNA must be remodeled to allow subsequent DNA replication. ClpX, a AAA+ enzyme, fulfills this function by unfolding one transpososome subunit. Which MuA subunit is extracted, and how complex destabilization relates to establishment of the correct directionality (left to right) of ...

The Clpx G298D Mutation in Clpx-EPP Reveals That Clpx Regulates the Mitochondria Enzymes in Erythroid Heme Synthesis Via Distinct Mechanisms

Blood, 2023
Terminally differentiating red cells synthesize large quantities of heme for hemoglobin production, requiring tight coordination between mitochondrial iron import and synthesis of photosensitive protoporphyrin IX (PPIX). PPIX causes erythropoietic porphyria from loss of function mutations in FECH, or gain of function mutations in ALAS2.

Performance of STAR-Light receivers during CLPX

IGARSS 2003. 2003 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium. Proceedings (IEEE Cat. No.03CH37477), 2004
STAR-Light is a 10 element, 1.4 GHz aperture synthesis radiometer being developed at the University of Michigan. It features 3 new technologies: 1) 2-dimensional aperture synthesis using 3-bit correlation, 2) Direct Sampling Digital Receiver (DSDR) architecture, and 3) band definition in the digital definition in the digital domain.

Human and mouse mitochondrial orthologs of bacterial ClpX

Mammalian Genome, 2000
We have determined the cDNA sequence and exon/intron structure of the human CLPX gene encoding a human ortholog of the E. coli ClpX chaperone and protease subunit. The CLPX gene comprises 14 exons and encodes a 633-amino acid-long precursor polypeptide.

Mitochondrial ClpX Activates a Key Enzyme for Heme Biosynthesis and Erythropoiesis [PDF]

open access: yesCell, 2015
The mitochondrion maintains and regulates its proteome with chaperones primarily inherited from its bacterial endosymbiont ancestor. Among these chaperones is the AAA+ unfoldase ClpX, an important regulator of prokaryotic physiology with poorly defined function in the eukaryotic mitochondrion. We observed phenotypic similarity in S.
