Clutch-size adjustments and skew models: effects on reproductive partitioning and group stability [PDF]
Reproductive skew theory seeks to integrate social and ecological factors thought to influence the division of reproduction among group-living animals. However, most reproductive skew models only examine interactions between individuals of the same sex ...

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

Magnetic Particle Clutch models
The first laboratory model, and an interactive model, of the magnetic fluid clutch. The magnetic particle clutch was invented by Jacob Rabinow at the National Bureau of Standards around 1947. A clutch is a device for transmitting torque between a pair of

Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Studies on aspects of the ecology of some hole nesting birds [PDF]
The breeding success of four species of small, hole-nesting woodland birds, die Blue, Great and Coal Tits and Pied Flycatcher utilising nestboxes was examined. Three study areas in County Durham were selected, Hamsterley Forest (largely a plantation) and
