COCOA AND COCOA BUTTER (Review Article)

open access: yesthe future of agriculture, 2021
Cocoa is a source of biologically active compounds, especially flavonoids such as epicatechin, catechin and procyanidin monomers, which positively affect health and aging, reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, metabolic disorders and cancer, as well as containing it vitamins, minerals, fats, proteins, stimulants and ...

Systemic Inducing Resistance on Cocoa Seedling Against Vascular Streak Dieback By Boron and Silikon Application

open access: yesCoffee and Cocoa Research Journal, 2011
Black pod rot disease (BPRD) which is caused by Phytophthora palmivora is one of the main diseases of cocoa cultivations particularly in plantations with wet climate. Black pod rot can develop rapidly under high humidity environments, particularly during

The antioxidant activity of cocoa

open access: yesPharmacognosy Magazine, 2009
In this study we aimed to determine the antioxidant effects of Cocoa ( Theobroma cacao L.), which is commonly used in both chocolate and cocoa drinks all over the world , on lipid peroxidation, alanine transaminase (ALT), aspartate transaminase (AST), glutathione (GSH) and protein oxidation levels in carbon tetrachloride (CCl4 ) treated for male ...

Additive Manufacturing of Patient‐Specific Intracranial Aneurysm Cell Culture Models

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Patient‐specific intracranial aneurysm models were fabricated using chocolate moulding, 3D printed water‐soluble cores, and direct resin 3D printing. Moulding PDMS around sacrificial cores made of chocolate or 3D printed water‐soluble resin yielded accurate, expandable, and endothelializable models that outperformed resin‐based approaches.

Palatable‐Food–Driven Top‐Down Circuit Inhibits PVNCRF Activity to Mitigate Stress Via Peri‐PVNCRFR1 Neurons

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Palatable food alleviates stress and prevents anxiety. This study uncovers a dedicated neural pathway: dopamine release in the PFC activates D1R neurons, whose projections to the peri‐PVN engage a population of anxiolytic CRFR1 neurons. These neurons then inhibit stress‐induced hyperactivity of PVNCRF neurons, providing a circuit‐level explanation for ...

Inhibitory Decay and Supercritical Brain Dynamics During Sleep Deprivation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sleep deprivation progressively shifts human brain dynamics from near‐critical toward supercritical states, as revealed by neuronal avalanche analysis of resting‐state fMRI. These changes track subjective sleep pressure rather than vigilance lapses and show marked network heterogeneity. A circuit model suggests that reduced inhibitory efficacy provides
