Are oxygen and sulfur atoms structurally equivalent in organic crystals? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
New guidelines for the design of structurally equivalent molecular crystals were derived from structural analyses of new cocrystals and polymorphs of saccharin and thiosaccharin, aided by a computational study. The study shows that isostructural crystals

Near‐Infrared Cocrystal Nanofluorophore with Enhanced Two‐Photon Absorption Cross Sections

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, organic cocrystal nanoparticles (BP4TC‐NPs) were prepared via a nanoprecipitation method using an amphiphilic surfactant. The resulting cocrystal nanoparticles exhibit exceptional nonlinear optical properties and bioimaging capabilities.

Four Novel Pharmaceutical Cocrystals of Oxyresveratrol, Including a 2 : 3 Cocrystal with Betaine

open access: yesChemical and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 2021
Cocrystal engineering can alter the physicochemical properties of a drug and generate a superior drug candidate for formulation design. Oxyresveratrol (ORV) exhibits a poor solubility in aqueous environments, thereby resulting in a poor bioavailability.

Identification of a new cocrystal of citric acid and paracetamol of pharmaceutical relevance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Cocrystals have been increasingly recognized as an attractive alternative delivery form for solid drug products. In this work, Raman spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction/X-ray crystallography, and differential scanning calorimetry have been used to ...

Mechanochromic Organic Materials: Molecular Mechanisms and Multidimensional Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
Mechanochromic (MC) organic materials change color in response to mechanical force. This review elucidates the molecular mechanisms (e.g., aggregation‐induced emission, AIE) and explores their multidimensional applications in sensors, anti‐counterfeiting, biomedical devices, and structural health monitoring, providing a roadmap for future smart ...

Stafib‐2‐CR: an Improved Nanomolar and Selective Inhibitor of the Transcription Factor STAT5b Developed by Conformational Restriction of Stafib‐2

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Conformational restriction strategies to increase the activity and selectivity of the STAT5b inhibitor Stafib‐2 are presented. The best conformationally restricted inhibitor Stafib‐2‐CR has threefold higher activity against STAT5b than Stafib‐2. A cell‐permeable prodrug of Stafib‐2‐CR inhibits phosphorylation of STAT5b in cultured human leukemia cells ...

Bioavailability of indomethacin-saccharin cocrystals

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, 2010
Abstract Objectives Pharmaceutical cocrystals are new solid forms with physicochemical properties that appear promising for drug product development. However, the in-vivo bioavailability of cocrystals has rarely been addressed.

Next Generation Hosts for Protein Recognition, Assembly and More

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The original design of synthetic receptors for proteins was based on macrocycles with a hydrophobic core and a polar/charged periphery. This design, geared towards protein recognition, facilitates receptor self‐assembly. Macrocycle oligomerization, in turn, contributes to protein assembly as evidenced in many cocrystal structures.
