Adsorption of mercury on used tea leaves and coffee beans

open access: yesBUNSEKI KAGAKU, 2003
The adsorption of mercury(II) from aqueous solutions on green tea leaves, coffee beans and activated carbons has been studied comparatively. The adsorption capacity of those adsorbents was little affected by pH and EDTA. The coffee beans and the activated carbons adsorption capacity were highly affected by chloride ion, whilst the green tea leaves were

Paternal Caffeine Exposure Programs Offspring Stress Vulnerability via Sperm Dlk1‐Dio3 Imprinting‐Directed Remodeling of a Novel Neural Circuit

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study elucidates that paternal preconception stress can drive offspring hyperresponsivity of the stress system via hypomethylation of a specific DNA region in sperm. This key link is confirmed in a cohort of prospective fathers: the epigenetic alteration is associated with elevated stress hormone levels.

Spatial distribution of the coffee-leaf-miner (Leucoptera coffeella) in an organic coffee (Coffea arabica L.) field in formation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Coffee production has been one of the economy pillars of many tropical countries. Unfortunately, this crop is susceptible to infestation by the coffee-leaf-miner (Leucoptera coffeella (Guérin-Mèneville & Perrottet, 1842)) which causes severe damage ...

Heterojunction‐Engineered Mass Spectrometry Platform for Deciphering Serum Metabolic Fingerprints in Diagnosis of Respiratory Diseases

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hollow Co3O4/TiO2 heterojunctions are engineered for high‐throughput laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry. The built‐in electric field drives efficient charge separation and photothermal conversion, while the hierarchical mesoporous network enables robust salt and protein tolerance.

Soil chemical properties and coffee seedling growth under bioaugmentation of coffee pines agroforestry waste application

open access: yesForest Science and Technology
Agroforestry systems integrating coffee and pine trees generate large volumes of organic residues, including coffee husks, leaves, and pine litter, which remain underutilized despite their potential as composting materials. This study examined the impact

NITROGEN FERTILIZERS AND OCCURRENCE OF Leucoptera coffeella (Guérin-Mèneville & Perrottet) IN TRANSPLANTED COFFEE SEEDLINGS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The coffee leaf-miner (CLM) Leucoptera coffeella (Lepidoptera: Lyonetiidae) is one of the main pests of coffee plants in Brazil. Its occurrence in the crop is directly related to the physiological state and growth characteristics of coffee plants, in ...

Spray technology for deposition of droplets on coffee leaves and fruits

open access: yesPesquisa Agropecuária Tropical, 2021
The correct deposition of spray along the canopy is important for the phytosanitary control in coffee plants; however, the structure of the plant makes this distribution difficult. This study aimed to evaluate the deposition of a tracer on leaves and fruits in coffee cultivation, with respect to the application rate and type of hydraulic nozzle, as ...
