Four cocrystals of thymine with phenolic coformers: influence of the coformer on hydrogen bonding

Acta Crystallographica Section C, Structural Chemistry, 2015
Cocrystals are molecular solids composed of at least two types of neutral chemical species held together by noncovalent forces. Crystallization of thymine [systematic name: 5-methylpyrimidine-2,4(1H,3H)-dione] with four phenolic coformers resulted in cocrystal formation, viz.catechol (benzene-1,2-diol) giving thymine–catechol (1/1), C5H6N2O2·C6H6O2, (I),

Design and Synthesis of a Series of CL-20 Cocrystals: Six-Membered Symmetrical N-Heterocyclic Compounds as Effective Coformers

open access: yesCrystal Growth and Design, 2019
Cocrystallization of energetic compounds has recently been considered as an effective method to adjust the properties through the selection of coformers, particularly to improve the detonation properties and reduce the mechanical sensitivity of CL-20. In

Cocrystallization of the anticancer drug 5-fluorouracil and coformers urea, thiourea or pyrazinamide using supercritical CO2 as an antisolvent (SAS) and as a solvent (CSS)

open access: yesJournal of Supercritical Fluids, 2020
Co-crystals of 5-fluorouracil (5-Fu) and the coformers urea, thiourea and pyrazinamide (PZA) were attempted for the first time through the supercritical antisolvent (SAS) and the cocrystallization with supercritical solvent (CSS) techniques.

A Coformer Approach for Supramolecular Polymerization at High Concentrations

Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 2023
Abstract Insolubility of functional molecules caused by polymorphism sometimes poses limitations for their solution‐based processing. Such a situation can also occur in the preparation processes of supramolecular polymers formed in a solution.

Effects of coformers on phase transformation and release profiles of carbamazepine cocrystals in hydroxypropyl methylcellulose based matrix tablets [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2015
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of coformers on phase transformation and release profiles of carbamazepine (CBZ) cocrystals in hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) based matrix tablets.

How cocrystals of weakly basic drugs and acidic coformers might modulate solubility and stability

open access: yesChemical Communications, 2016
Cocrystals of a weakly basic drug (nevirapine) with acidic coformers are shown to alter the solubility dependence on pH, and to exhibit a pH(max) above which a less soluble cocrystal becomes more soluble than the drug.

Temozolomide Cocrystals with Carboxamide Coformers

Crystal Growth & Design, 2013
Temozolomide (TMZ) is an antitumor prodrug of broad spectrum antineoplastic activity. TMZ is stable in acidic medium (pH 7). In continuation of our efforts to design stable cocrystals of TMZ with partners such as organic acids (pKa 2–5) and a salt dihydrate with hydrochloric acid, we report herein TMZ cocrystals with amide coformers, e.g ...

Exploring potential coformers for oxyresveratrol using principal component analysis

International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2020
Oxyresveratrol (OXY) exhibits poor bioavailability due to its low solubility. Cocrystals are effective in improving solubility of OXY. In this study, principal component analysis (PCA) was employed for coformer selection using 5 variables (solubility parameter, logP, hydrogen bonding acceptor, hydrogen bonding donor and molecular volume).
