Approximate-Inverse Explainability of β–VAE Latents for Multichannel EEG Participant-Generalised Topographical Representation Learning

open access: yesIEEE Access
Electroencephalography (EEG) offers millisecond-level resolution of brain activity. However, its clinical utility is limited by artefacts and its non-linear and non-stationary characteristics.

Apolipoprotein E genotype does not moderate the associations of depressive symptoms, neuroticism and allostatic load with cognitive ability and cognitive aging in the Lothian Birth Cohort 1936. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
In this replication-and-extension study, we tested whether depressive symptoms, neuroticism, and allostatic load (multisystem physiological dysregulation) were related to lower baseline cognitive ability and greater subsequent cognitive decline in older ...

The Aging Blood: Cellular Origins, Circulating Drivers, and Therapeutic Potential

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
As a conduit linking all organs, the blood system both reflects and actively drives systemic aging. This review highlights how circulating pro‐aging and antiaging factors and age‐associated hematopoietic stem cell dysfunction contribute to immunosenescence and multi‐organ decline, positioning the hematopoietic system as a target for aging intervention.

Instantiating the onEEGwaveLAD Framework for Real-Time Muscle Artefact Identification and Mitigation in EEG Signals

open access: yesSensors
While electroencephalography is extremely useful for studying brain activity, EEG data is always contaminated by a wide range of artefacts. Many techniques exist to identify and remove such artefacts, primarily offline, with and without human supervision

Re‐Awakening Public Attention to the Silent Pandemic of Cancer Among Older Adults in Low‐ and Middle‐Income Countries

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As global populations age, cancer is increasingly becoming a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among older adults, particularly in low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs). Despite accounting for the majority of new cancer cases and deaths, older individuals remain underrepresented in cancer research, clinical guidelines, and health ...

Cognitive Load Theory

open access: yesReview of Business and Legal Sciences, 2017
The objective of this paper is to investigate if academics and students share similar cognitive structures in relation to the True and Fair View (TFV) concept, a complex accounting principle, which has no official definition and is open to interpretation and professional judgement. A survey method was used to obtain data for this study.
