Factor J, a human inhibitor of complement C1, is a cationic, highly glycosylated protein

Immunology Letters, 1994
Factor J (FJ) is a new inhibitor of the complement system. This work supports the fact that FJ is a cationic molecule (pI > or = 9.6 in native conditions, or pI = 8.1 in denaturing conditions) with a high sugar content (40%) that is able to interact with different lectins, suggesting a complex glycosylation.

An anti-endotoxin peptide that generates from the amino-terminal domain of complement regulatory protein C1 inhibitor

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2007
C1 inhibitor (C1INH), a complement regulatory protein, prevents endotoxin shock via a direct interaction of the amino-terminal domain with gram-negative bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Importantly, the cleaved, inactive C1INH still is an anti-endotoxin effector indicating the anti-endotoxin peptide that generates from the amino-terminal domain of ...

Suppression of complement regulatory protein C1 inhibitor in vascular endothelial activation by inhibiting vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 action

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2007
Increased expression of adhesion molecules by activated endothelium is a critical feature of vascular inflammation associated with the several diseases such as endotoxin shock and sepsis/septic shock. Our data demonstrated complement regulatory protein C1 inhibitor (C1INH) prevents endothelial cell injury.

Plasma Concentrations of Complement-Modulating Proteins (C1 Inhibitor, C4 Binding Protein, Factor H and Factor I) in Inflammatory Dermatoses with Special Reference to Psoriasis

Dermatology, 1989
By using single radial immunodiffusion, plasma levels of four complement-modulating proteins, i.e. C1 inhibitor (C1INH), C4-binding protein (C4bp), factor H and factor I were measured in 42 psoriatic patients and in 60 patients with other inflammatory skin diseases in comparison with 27 normal controls.

High Normal Serum Levels of C3 and C1 Inhibitor, Two Acute-Phase Proteins Belonging to the Complement System, Occur More Frequently in Patients with Crohn's Disease Than Ulcerative Colitis

Digestive Diseases and Sciences, 2003
Few data are available on measurements of serum concentrations of complement proteins in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Therefore we measured serum levels of C3, C4, and C1-esterase inhibitor (C1-INH) as well as C-reactive protein (CRP) in 167 patients with Crohn's disease (CD) and 111 patients with ulcerative colitis (UC).
