During C. elegans oocyte meiosis I cytokinesis and polar body extrusion, cortical actomyosin is locally remodeled to assemble a contractile ring that forms within and remains part of a much larger and actively contractile cortical actomyosin network ...

Myosins generate contractile force and maintain organization in the cytokinetic contractile ring [PDF]
Abstract During cytokinesis cells assemble an actomyosin contractile ring whose tension constricts and divides cells, but the ring tension was rarely measured. Actomyosin force generation is well understood for the regular sarcomeric architecture of striated muscle, but recent super-resolution studies of fission yeast contractile rings ...

TPXL-1 activates Aurora A to clear contractile ring components from the polar cortex during cytokinesis. [PDF]
During cytokinesis, a signal from the central spindle that forms between the separating anaphase chromosomes promotes the accumulation of contractile ring components at the cell equator, while a signal from the centrosomal microtubule asters inhibits ...

Contractile ring formation [PDF]
![Graphic][1] A broad band of nodes is the precursor to a cytokinetic ring. During cytokinesis the actin–myosin contractile ring forms between two daughter cells, pinching them apart. On page [391][2], Wu et al.

Kinetics of Myosin Node Aggregation into a Contractile Ring [PDF]
We study a stochastic aggregation model for the assembly of the contractile ring from a broad band of nodes during cytokinesis in fission yeast. We found that bands of nodes condense into rings when the range of node interactions is larger than the width of the band. Wide bands are unstable to clump formation due to Poisson density fluctuations.

The formin protein mDia2 plays a critical role in a number of cellular processes through its ability to promote nucleation and elongation of actin filaments. In erythroblasts, this includes control of cytokinesis and enucleation by regulating contractile

Aurora B but not rho/MLCK signaling is required for localization of diphosphorylated myosin II regulatory light chain to the midzone in cytokinesis. [PDF]
Non-muscle myosin II is stimulated by monophosphorylation of its regulatory light chain (MRLC) at Ser19 (1P-MRLC). MRLC diphosphorylation at Thr18/Ser19 (2P-MRLC) further enhances the ATPase activity of myosin II.

A node organization in the actomyosin contractile ring generates tension and aids stability. [PDF]
During cytokinesis, a contractile actomyosin ring constricts and divides the cell in two. How the ring marshals actomyosin forces to generate tension is not settled.

Formins Determine the Functional Properties of Actin Filaments in Yeast [PDF]
The actin cytoskeleton executes a broad range of essential functions within a living cell. The dynamic nature of the actin polymer is modulated to facilitate specific cellular processes at discrete locations by actin-binding proteins (ABPs), including ...
