Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control Implementation of Team Mekar at the Grand Cooperative Driving Challenge

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, 2012
This paper presents the cooperative adaptive cruise control implementation of Team Mekar at the Grand Cooperative Driving Challenge (GCDC). The Team Mekar vehicle used a dSpace microautobox for access to the vehicle controller area network bus and for ...

Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control: A Field Experiment

2020 IEEE 23rd International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSC), 2020
In this study, a Human-in-the-Platoon CACC (HiP-CACC) controller is proposed for connected and automated vehicles to “include” human drivers into platooning process. The goal is to form a platoon between automated vehicles and human drivers so that turbulences caused by human drivers could be smoothed out by automated vehicles.

Extended Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control

2014 IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium Proceedings, 2014
In this paper the Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control strategy for vehicles platooning is extended to the case when each vehicle can communicate with a subset of vehicles in the fleet. The control objective is to guarantee that the fleet moves forward with a given spacing policy at the leader velocity.

Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2015
Cooperative adaptive cruise control (CACC) includes multiple concepts of communication-enabled vehicle following and speed control. Definitions and classifications are presented to help clarify the distinctions between types of automated vehicle-following control that are often conflated with each other. A distinction is made between vehicle-to-vehicle

Spacing Control of Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control Vehicle Platoon

2020 IEEE International Conference on Automation, Quality and Testing, Robotics (AQTR), 2020
One of the solutions increasing roadway capacity is to automatically organize a vehicle grouping traveling in a platoon in order to achieve optimizes inter-vehicle spacing between successive two vehicles. This paper proposes a spacing control algorithm for Cooperative adaptive cruise control (CACC) technology in a platoon, using on-board sensors and ...

Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control With Unconnected Vehicle in the Loop

IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, 2022
To improve the usability of cooperative adaptive cruise control (CACC) in the mixed traffic, a CACC algorithm with unconnected vehicle in the loop (CACCu) is proposed. Unlike the traditional CACC that requires a connected preceding vehicle or otherwise degrades to adaptive cruise control (ACC), CACCu aims to closely follow an unconnected preceding ...

Synthesis of Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control With Feedforward Strategies

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2020
Cooperative adaptive cruise control (CACC) technique enhances the coordination of vehicles on road. Through CACC controllers, the platoon can exhibit promising traffic performance. In this paper, we study the control synthesis for two types of CACC systems, one of which uses acceleration feedforward while the other uses control feedforward.

Vehicle Sequence Reordering with Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control

2019 Design, Automation & Test in Europe Conference & Exhibition (DATE), 2019
With Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control (CACC) systems, vehicles are allowed to communicate and cooperate with each other to form platoons and improve the traffic throughput, traffic performance, and energy efficiency. In this paper, we take into account the braking factors of different vehicles so that there is a desired platoon sequence which ...
