Biotransformation of p-coumaric acid by Paecilomyces variotii

Letters in Applied Microbiology, 2006
To investigate the biotransformation of p-coumaric acid into p-hydroxybenzoic acid (p-HBA) by Paecilomyces variotii Bainier MTCC 6581.As a result of p-coumaric acid degradation by P. variotii, three phenolic metabolites, p-hydroxybenzaldehyde (p-HBAld), p-HBA and protocatechuic acid were formed. These phenolics were detected using TLC and HPLC.

Caffeic and coumaric acid esters from Calystegia soldanella

Fitoterapia, 2000
Esters of trans-4-hydroxycinnamic acid, cis-4-hydroxycinnamic acid and trans-3,4-dihydroxycinnamic acid with long-chain alcohols (n=15-20), were isolated from the stems of Calystegia soldanella.

Coumaric acid degradation by electro-Fenton process

Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry, 2012
Abstract The degradation of the p-coumaric acid (CA, 4-hydroxycinnamic acid) has been investigated by electro-Fenton process. The electrolyses have been performed using an undivided cell equipped with a Ti/RuO 2 anode and a commercial graphite-felt to electrogenerate in situ hydrogen peroxide and regenerate ferrous ions as catalyst.

Production of coumaric acid from sugarcane bagasse

Innovative Food Science & Emerging Technologies, 2009
Abstract Phenolic acids were released from sugarcane bagasse by alkaline hydrolysis at 30 °C for 4 h; The alkaline hydrolysates were ultrafiltrated, the permeates purified with anion exchange resin. The phenolic acids bound by the resin were desorbed by a mixture of water–ethanol–HCl solution (36: 60: 4) after washing the resin with water, ethanol ...

Goitrogenic activity of p‐coumaric acid in rats

Journal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, 2003
AbstractThe effects of three natural phenolic acids (caffeic, ferulic, and p‐coumaric) on the rat thyroid gland were examined in a 3‐week oral‐treatment study. Forty male Wistar albino rats, divided into groups of 10 rats each and fed iodine‐rich diet, were administered by gastrointestinal tube saline (control), caffeic acid, ferulic acid, or p ...

p-Coumaric acid derivatives from Artemisia monosperma

Phytochemistry, 1990
Abstract Artemisia monosperma afforded four flavonoids, two acetylenes, eight p -hydroxyacetophenone derivatives and three p -coumaric acid derivatives, two of them being new. The structures were elucidated by spectral methods. The flavonoids present are naringenin 7-methyl ether, eriodictyol 7-methyl ether, quercetin 3,7-dimethyl ether and ...

p-Coumaric acid abatement by ozone in aqueous solution

Water Research, 1995
Abstract The ozonation process of p-coumaric acid in aqueous solution is studied by identification and quantitative evaluation of intermediates and final oxidation products. In all the investigated pH range (2.0–8.0) the initial oxidation step is represented by the direct attack of ozone to the exocyclic double bond, following oxidation steps being ...

Synthesis and properties of coumaric acid derivative homo-polymers

Journal of Biomaterials Science, Polymer Edition, 2008
Poly(4-hydroxycinnamic acid) (P4HCA), poly(3-hydroxycinnamic acid) (P3HCA), poly(3-methoxy-4-hydroxycinnamic acid) (PMHCA) and poly(3,4-dihydroxycinnamic acid) (PDHCA) were synthesized by the thermal poly-condensation of the corresponding monomers, which are lignin precursors, coumaric acid derivatives consisting of cinnamoyl groups and different ...

Fluorometric determination of p-coumaric acid in beer

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 1988
A new spectrofluorometric method to determine p-coumaric acid in beer has been developed. After the pH of the samples was adjusted to 2, impurities were extracted into hexane. Phenolics were then extracted into ethyl acetate, dried, and redissolved in water.

Prenylated coumaric acid derivatives from Artemisia cf. Dolosa

Phytochemistry, 1991
Abstract The chemical investigation of Artemisia cf. dolosa afforded several known compounds as well as 10 new p -coumaric acid derivatives. The structures were elucidated by high field NMR techniques.
