Cowpeas - A New Forage Crop for South Dakota [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
In the northern Great Plains, cool-season pastures decline in productivity during summer. This reduces available forage supplies. Solutions to forage shortages during the summer traditionally have included the use of perennial and annual warm-season ...

A national crop wild relative checklist for Zimbabwe reveals edible crop wild relative diversity of regional and global importance

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 8, Issue 6, Page 2205-2216, November 2026.
Crop wild relatives (CWR) in Zimbabwe are reservoirs of beneficial agronomic traits, yet they remain under‐documented and poorly conserved. This study developed Zimbabwe's first national CWR checklist based on a conceptual framework combining floristic, ecological and ethnobotanical data, revealing over 2700 taxa, with nearly 1000 edible species ...

Weed Interference and Control in Cowpea Production: A Review

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Science, 2017
In spite of the great economic potential of cowpea as both domestic and commercial crop, a number of constraints, which include insect pests, diseases and weeds, limits its production in West and many parts of Africa. Weeds reduced cowpea yield and value by competing for light, water and nutrients.

Solid‐State Fermentation of Legumes: Multi‐Scale Structural Modifications to Unlock Techno‐Functional Properties

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 6, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Legumes are increasingly used as functional ingredients in plant‐based foods. However, their compact endogenous structure restricts techno‐functional properties. Conventional fractionation methods that isolate proteins further impair these properties and generate co‐products.

Phytosanitary products use method in cowpea production in the commune of adjohoun, Benin

open access: yesInternational Journal of Biological and Chemical Sciences, 2019
This study aimed at identifying the chemical pesticides used in cowpea production and their different ways of use in the Adjohoun commune, in the South East of Benin. Thus, 323 farmers have been surveyed and the observations of their agronomic practices have allowed us to collect information on water contamination due to the use of pesticides.

Autonomous self‐pollination provides reproductive assurance, whereas insect pollination enhances yield in sesame under tropical field conditions

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Biology, Volume 189, Issue 3, November 2026.
This study demonstrates that Sesamum indicum L. combines autonomous self‐pollination and insect‐mediated pollination under tropical field conditions. Autonomous self‐pollination provides reproductive assurance, whereas insect pollination increases grain yield by 28.6%, corresponding to a pollinator dependence of 22%.

How Institutions Shape the Effects of Agricultural Cooperatives on Their Members

open access: yesKyklos, Volume 79, Issue 4, Page 1078-1113, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Agricultural cooperatives represent a promising way of improving the quality of life of half a billion smallholders, who account for the vast majority of the world's food production. Yet, little is known about the institutional factors that explain the potential benefits of being a member of a cooperative.

Plant Virus Immunotherapy for HPV‐Associated Oropharyngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, Volume 6, Issue 10, October 2026.
Cowpea mosaic virus (CPMV) nanoparticles are safe and potent cancer immunotherapy candidates with strong immunomodulatory activity. CPMV activates innate immunity, which in turn drives adaptive immune responses and promotes durable, systemic antitumor effects.

Productivity and Nodulation Cowpea Inoculated in Function of Phosphorus and Potassium

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Science, 2013
The cowpea represents one of the most important agricultural species of the brazilian Northeast, and proper management of mineral fertilizer that culture becomes essential to their production. The present work aimed to study the effect of the interaction between potassium and phosphorus in the presence of the inoculant INPA 03-11B in the culture of ...

Aphicidal Potential and Metabolomic Profiling of Floriculture Leaf Waste Extracts Against Aphis craccivora Koch Under Laboratory Conditions

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 10, October 2026.
We utilized the leaf wastes of floriculture crops, namely Tagetes patula, Chrysanthemum grandiflorum, and Alstroemeria hybrida to determine their insecticidal potential against nymphs and adults of Aphis craccivora. Targeted and nontargeted metabolomics of extracts showed the presence of phenols and flavonoids, which corroborates the insecticidal ...
