The Study On The Thermal Conductivity Of Nano-cryoprotectant

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2013
The coefficient of thermal conductivity of glycerin solution was measured by the transient hotline method, in which the concentration was 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50% respectively with the SiO2 nano powder.

From beginning to end: the synecology of tree‐killing bark beetles, fungi, and trees

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 1, Page 314-335, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Over a century of research has revealed an amazing complexity of behaviours and physiological adaptations that allow tiny bark beetles to overcome large trees, sometimes resulting in outbreaks that kill millions of trees. Turning a tree into a home and successfully raising offspring involves constant interactions among the beetles, the tree ...

Secondary Somatosensory Cortex Is Required for Learning but Not Execution of a Tactile Discrimination

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 63, Issue 3, February 2026.
The relationship between primary somatosensory cortex (S1) and secondary somatosensory cortex (S2) during learning is not clear. Here, we show that when confronted with a texture discrimination using the whiskers, S2 is required during learning but not after learning.

Effects of Cryoprotectant on Thermal Expansion of Articular Cartilage during Freezing Process by DSC Method

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2015
The thermal expansion caused by the growth of ice crystals is the main reason for low-temperature fracture of articular cartilage. With non-isothermal DSC method, this article investigated the thermodynamics and crystallization kinetics parameters of the ...

Community‐driven variations in snow algae color modulate snow albedo reduction

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 249, Issue 4, Page 1739-1752, February 2026.
Summary Snow algae blooms visibly alter snow color and surface energy balance, yet the biological basis of this variability remains unclear. We investigated how pigment composition and community structure shape the optical properties of snow algae blooms of distinct colors – red, orange, and green – co‐occurring within the same snowfield in Glacier ...

Short-Term Low-Temperature Storage and Cryopreservation of Qihe Crucian Carp (Carassius auratus) Sperm

open access: yesAnimals
Qihe crucian carp Carassius auratus is one of the major economic aquacultural fish species in China. Due to environmental degradation and the impact of the reproduction mode of gynogenesis, the wild population of Qihe crucian carp exhibits an extremely ...
