Connexin43 Deficiency Leads to Ventricular Arrhythmias by Reprogramming Proline Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Ventricular arrhythmias (VAs) as life‐threatening heart rhythm disorders, reduced connexin43 (Cx43) is one of the mechanisms of VAs. Cx43 is the predominant ventricular gap junction protein essential for cardiac electrical conduction; the absence in the ...

Cyclic stretch increases Cx43 expression.

open access: yes, 2014
HPAECs were grown to confluence on flexible Bioflex plates; subjected to pathological cyclic stretch (18% elongation), physiological cyclic stretch (5% elongation), or static stretch (0% elongation) for 24 hr.; and Cx43 protein or mRNA was measured.

Casein Kinase 1 Phosphomimetic Mutations Negatively Impact Connexin-43 Gap Junctions in Human Pluripotent Stem Cell-Derived Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesBiomolecules
The transplantation of human pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes (hPSC-CMs) has shown promise in preclinical models of myocardial infarction, but graft myocardium exhibits incomplete host–graft electromechanical integration and a propensity for ...

Autoregulation of Connexin43 Gap Junction Formation by Internally Translated Isoforms

open access: yesCell Reports, 2013
During each heartbeat, intercellular electrical coupling via connexin43 (Cx43) gap junctions enables synchronous cardiac contraction. In failing hearts, impaired Cx43 trafficking reduces gap junction coupling, resulting in arrhythmias.

Role of connexin 43 in odontoblastic differentiation and structural maintenance in pulp damage repair

open access: yesInternational Journal of Oral Science, 2021
Dental pulp can initiate its damage repair after an injury of the pulp–dentin complex by rearrangement of odontoblasts and formation of newly differentiated odontoblast-like cells.

Late INa as a Therapeutic Target: New Strategies, Computational Modelling, Drug Development, and Clinical Translation

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Nav1.5 channel, a major isoform of voltage‐gated sodium ion channel, is mainly found in ventricular cardiomyocytes, playing a key role in generating essential cardiac action potentials for normal heart rhythms. Mutations in Nav1.5 have been associated with severe heart conditions such as long QT syndrome, Brugada syndrome, cardiac ...

Connexin43 and Bergmann glial gap junctions in cerebellar function

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2008
Connexin43 (Cx43), a major component of astrocytic gap junctions, is abundantly expressed in Bergmann glial cells (BGCs) in the cerebellum, but the function of Cx43 in BGCs is largely unknown.

Navigating the Complexity: A Comprehensive Review of GSK‐3 Inhibition in Regenerative Medicine

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Glycogen synthase kinase‐3 (GSK‐3) is a central regulator of numerous cellular signaling pathways, with critical roles in metabolism, proliferation, differentiation, and tissue regeneration. This review explores the multifaceted effects of pharmacological GSK‐3 inhibition across multiple body districts, focusing on its highly context‐dependent
