Cyclic Di-GMP: Using the Past To Peer into the Future

2014
Just over 20 years have elapsed since cyclic di-GMP (c-di-GMP) was discovered as an allosteric effector of cellulose biosynthesis. This chapter dispels myths concerning current paradigms and highlight key questions currently under investigation. Bioinformatics, and the prevalence of this molecule, provided the necessary boost to lift the study of c-di ...

Design and application of cyclic-di-GMP biosensors.

2014
Cyclic‐di‐GMP is an important bacterial secondary messenger molecule that regulates motility, virulence and biofilm formation in many pathogenic bacteria. This messenger molecule is synthesized from cellular GTP by diguanylate cyclase (DGC) and hydrolyzed by phosphodiesterases (PDE) to form 5‐pGpG and GMP.
