Visible‐Light Sensitized Isomerization in the Lipid Bilayer Enables Activation of a Transmembrane Transporter

A stiff‐stilbene‐based transmembrane anion transporter is isomerized by energy transfer from a ruthenium tris(bipyridyl) photosensitizer in the lipid bilayer. This sensitized isomerization allows activation of chloride transport using visible instead of UV light, without the need to chemically modify the stiff‐stilbene photoswitch.

The mycotoxin definition reconsidered towards fungal cyclic depsipeptides

First genome sequence of a European Alternaria brassicae isolate and genes involved in early development of alternaria leaf spot on Brassica juncea

This article reports the first genome sequence of a UK Alternaria brassicae isolate. Dual RNA‐sequencing profiling of A. brassicae‐infected Brassica juncea leaves identified differentially expressed genes involved in pathogenicity and host response pathways in moderately resistant Sej‐2 (2) and moderately susceptible Pusa Jaikisan cultivars.

Cyclic peptides and depsipeptides from cyanobacteria: A review

An elaborate array of structurally-novel and biologically-active cyclic peptides and depsipeptides are found in blue-green algae (cyanobacteria). Several of these compounds possess structures that are similar to those of natural products from marine invertebrates.
