Carfilzomib induces G2/M cell cycle arrest in human endometrial cancer cells via upregulation of p21Waf1/Cip1 and p27Kip1

open access: yesTaiwanese Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2016
Objective: Carfilzomib is a second-generation tetrapeptide epoxyketone proteasome inhibitor used in current clinical therapy of hematologic malignancies. The mechanism of proteasome inhibition in endometrial cancer is not very clear.

Regulation of Protein Phosphatase Inhibitor-1 by Cyclin-dependent Kinase 5 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2007
Inhibitor-1, the first identified endogenous inhibitor of protein phosphatase 1 (PP-1), was previously reported to be a substrate for cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (Cdk5) at Ser67. Further investigation has revealed the presence of an additional Cdk5 site identified by mass spectrometry and confirmed by site-directed mutagenesis as Ser6.

Cryo-EM structure of SKP1-SKP2-CKS1 in complex with CDK2-cyclin A-p27KIP1

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
p27KIP1 (cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 1B, p27) is a member of the CIP/KIP family of CDK (cyclin dependent kinase) regulators that inhibit cell cycle CDKs.

Effect of ECT2 Gene on Proliferation of Cervical Cancer Cells and Its Mechanism

open access: yesZhongliu Fangzhi Yanjiu, 2022
Objective To study the effect of epithelial cell transformation sequence 2 (ECT2) on the proliferation of cervical cancer cells and its mechanism. Methods We transfected cervical cancer cells HeLa (HeLa-ECT2) with the lentivirus overexpressing ECT2 and ...

Thyroid status modulates T lymphoma growth via cell cycle regulatory proteins and angiogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We have shown in vitro that thyroid hormones (THs) regulate the balance between proliferation and apoptosis of T lymphoma cells. The effects of THs on tumor development have been studied, but the results are still controversial.

Regulation of synaptojanin 1 by cyclin-dependent kinase 5 at synapses [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2004
Synaptojanin 1 is a polyphosphoinositide phosphatase concentrated in presynaptic nerve terminals, where it dephosphorylates a pool of phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate implicated in synaptic vesicle recycling. Like other proteins with a role in endocytosis, synaptojanin 1 undergoes constitutive phosphorylation in resting synapses and stimulation ...

Establishment of high-throughput screening HTRF assay for identification small molecule inhibitors of Skp2-Cks1

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
S-phase kinase associated protein 2 (Skp2), a member of the F-box family that constitute the largest known class of ubiquitin E3 specificity components, is responsible for recognizing and recruiting cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor p27 for its ...

Xenopus NM23-X4 regulates retinal gliogenesis through interaction with p27Xic1 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Background. In Xenopus retinogenesis, p27Xic1, a Xenopus cyclin dependent kinase inhibitor, functions as a cell fate determinant in both gliogenesis and neurogenesis in a context dependent manner.
