Difluoro Carbenes: From Genuine Gold Complexes to Unprecedented Metallacyclic Reactivity

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Thanks to chelating ligands and enhanced backdonation, genuine gold(I) difluorocarbenes persistent for hours at −30 °C or even 0 °C have been obtained. In addition to classical Fisher‐type electrophilic behavior, these complexes display unprecedented reactivity toward alkenes and 1,3‐dienes.

Von Sauerstoff zu Tellur: Der Einfluss des Chalkogenatoms auf die Nucleophilie und Basizität von Isochalkogenharnstoff‐basierten Katalysatoren

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.

Stereoselective Synthesis of Alkenyl Fluorides and Alkynes by Defluoro Coupling of Trifluoromethyl Arenes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A practical, stereoselective method for synthesizing tri‐ and tetra‐substituted 1,2‐fluoro‐borylalkenes and alkynes via defluorinative C–C coupling of CF3–arenes with organodiboron reagents is reported. Enabled by a Lewis base activator, products are formed in up to 94% yield and >98:2 Z/E selectivity.

Toward Iron‐Catalyzed Alkene Metathesis: Mapping the Reactivity and Deactivation Pathways of an Iron Metallacyclobutane

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Iron‐catalyzed alkene metathesis has long remained elusive. This study identifies β‐hydride elimination from an iron metallacyclobutane as a key deactivation pathway in iron‐catalyzed alkene metathesis, through combined computational and experimental efforts.
