Identification of CD38high Monocyte as a Candidate Diagnostic Biomarker and Therapeutic Target for Sepsis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uncovers that CD38high monocytes discriminate sepsis and sterile inflammation and are associated with 28‐day mortality in bacterial sepsis. Targeting CD38 therapy reduces inflammatory response in monocytes and in sepsis mice model. Mechanistically, CD38‐HIF‐1α/glycolysis/MGO loop exacerbates sepsis‐induced immune dysregulation.

Bimetallic Ca/Zn Nanoagonist Remould the Immunosuppressive Hepatocellular Carcinoma Microenvironment Following Incomplete Microwave Ablation via Pyroptosis and the STING Signaling Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The multifunctional bimetallic Ca/Zn nanoagonist (PZH/Zn@CaNA) significantly downregulated the JAK2‐STAT3 signaling pathway, which effectively inhibited the proliferation and growth of HCC with incomplete microwave ablation. Furthermore, the released bimetallic ions (Ca2⁺ and Zn2⁺) synergistically enhanced oxidative stress‐mediated cytotoxicity ...

Solanidine-derived CYP2D6 phenotyping elucidates phenoconversion in multimedicated geriatric patients. [PDF]

open access: yesBr J Clin Pharmacol
Abstract Aims Phenoconversion, a genotype‐phenotype mismatch, challenges a successful implementation of personalized medicine. The aim of this study was to detect and determine phenoconversion using the solanidine metabolites 3,4‐seco‐solanidine‐3,4‐dioic acid (SSDA) and 4‐OH‐solanidine as diet‐derived cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) biomarkers in a ...

An Intelligent and Conductive Hydrogel with Multiresponsive and ROS Scavenging Properties for Infection Prevention and Anti‐Inflammatory Treatment Assisted by Electrical Stimulation for Diabetic Wound

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces a novel therapeutic approach that employs a conductive hydrogel (HEPP) responsive to near‐infrared light, pH levels, and reactive oxygen species. Its goal is to enhance the healing environment affected by elevated glucose levels, insufficient oxygen, and bacterial infections in diabetes‐related wounds.

Reinforcing Stromal Cell Spheroid Through Red‐Light Preconditioning for Advanced Vascularization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel approach to enhance stromal cell therapy for myocardial infarction by combining OLED‐based photobiomodulation (OPBM) preconditioning with 3D spheroid culture of hADSCs. The engineered spheroids improve angiogenesis, arterialization, and cardiac function in vivo, offering a next‐generation therapeutic strategy to overcome ...

Description of Babesia coryicola sp. nov. from Florida pumas (Puma concolor coryi) from southern Florida, USA

open access: yesInternational Journal for Parasitology: Parasites and Wildlife
Previously, a high prevalence of piroplasms has been reported from Florida pumas (Puma concolor coryi) from southern Florida. In the current study, we describe the biological characteristics of a novel Babesia species in Florida pumas.
