First genome sequence of a European Alternaria brassicae isolate and genes involved in early development of alternaria leaf spot on Brassica juncea

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
This article reports the first genome sequence of a UK Alternaria brassicae isolate. Dual RNA‐sequencing profiling of A. brassicae‐infected Brassica juncea leaves identified differentially expressed genes involved in pathogenicity and host response pathways in moderately resistant Sej‐2 (2) and moderately susceptible Pusa Jaikisan cultivars.

Mss51 and Ssc1 Facilitate Translational Regulation of Cytochrome c Oxidase Biogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The intricate biogenesis of multimeric organellar enzymes of dual genetic origin entails several levels of regulation. In Saccharomyces cerevisiae , mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase (COX) assembly is regulated translationally.

COA6 facilitates cytochrome c oxidase biogenesis as thiol-reductase for copper metallochaperones in mitochondria. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase, the terminal enzyme of the respiratory chain, contains heme and copper centers for electron transfer. The conserved COX2 subunit contains the CuA site, a binuclear copper center.

Construction of an O2‐responsive engineering bioreactor for enhanced indole‐3‐propionic acid production and deoxynivalenol detoxification

open access: yesResponsive Materials, EarlyView.
An oxygen‐responsive living bioreactor was engineered via interspecies protoplast fusion, converting oxygen from an inhibitory stress into a programmable signal for sustained indole‐3‐propionic acid (IPA) production. This genetically encoded bioreactor enables robust aerobic operation and therapeutic efficacy of deoxynivalenol detoxification in vivo ...

Morphofunctional and Biochemical Approaches for Studying Mitochondrial Changes during Myoblasts Differentiation

open access: yesJournal of Aging Research, 2011
This study describes mitochondrial behaviour during the C2C12 myoblast differentiation program and proposes a proteomic approach to mitochondria integrated with classical morphofunctional and biochemical analyses.

Phthalate Metabolite, Mono(2‐Ethyl‐5‐Hydroxyhexyl) Phthalate (MEHHP), Promotes Uterine‐Fibroid–Associated Phenotypes in Myometrial Stem Cell‐Derived 3D Organoids

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates how phthalate exposure contributes to uterine fibroid (UF) development by studying the effects of the Mono‐(2‐ethyl‐5‐hydroxyhexyl) phthalate (MEHHP), a metabolite of Di(2‐ethylhexyl) phthalate, on myometrial stem cells (MMSCs).

Rapamycin rescues mitochondrial myopathy via coordinated activation of autophagy and lysosomal biogenesis

open access: yesEMBO Molecular Medicine, 2018
The mTOR inhibitor rapamycin ameliorates the clinical and biochemical phenotype of mouse, worm, and cellular models of mitochondrial disease, via an unclear mechanism.

MR-1S Interacts with PET100 and PET117 in Module-Based Assembly of Human Cytochrome c Oxidase

open access: yesCell Reports, 2017
The biogenesis of human cytochrome c oxidase (COX) is an intricate process in which three mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA)-encoded core subunits are assembled in a coordinated way with at least 11 nucleus-encoded subunits.

Deficiency of Mitochondrial Fatty Acid Enzyme, CPT1A, Underlies Airway Epithelial Barrier Dysfunction in Severe Asthma

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial fatty acid enzyme, CPT1A, is deficient in the airway epithelium of severe asthma patients. Restoration of CPT1A expression improved epithelial barrier integrity via increasing mitochondrial respiration and ATP production in airway epithelial cells. Restoration of deficient epithelial CPT1A may represent a new treatment approach for severe
