This diagram illustrates that night shift work disrupts circadian clock genes (like CLOCK, BMAL1) in both humans and mice. This disruption leads to mitochondrial dysfunction (imbalanced fusion/fission proteins) and increased oxidative stress, which is identified as the primary mechanism ultimately causing elevated blood pressure.

Intracytoplasmic Copper Homeostasis Controls Cytochrome
Copper is an essential micronutrient used as a metal cofactor by a variety of enzymes, including cytochrome c oxidase (Cox). In all organisms from bacteria to humans, cellular availability and insertion of copper into target proteins are tightly ...

FKBP4 regulates 5-fluorouracil sensitivity in colon cancer by controlling mitochondrial respiration
FKBP4 controls mitochondrial respiration via modulating COA6-mediated biogenesis and activity of mitochondrial complex IV, thereby regulating 5-fluorouracil sensitivity in colon cancer.

ABSTRACT High‐fat diet (HFD)‐induced hepatic injury represents a pathology observed across vertebrates, yet the underlying mechanisms remain incompletely understood. Herein, the present study identifies phosphatidylethanolamine methyltransferase (Pemt), a key enzyme in phosphatidylcholine synthesis, as a critical regulator of mitochondrial homeostasis ...

We present a chromosome‐level genome assembly of Siraitia grosvenorii and, through comparative genomics, uncover a conserved UGT73 tandem array driving triterpenoid saponin diversification in Cucurbitaceae. Crystalized SgUGT73AM30 further reveals the regioselectivity mechanism underlying its catalytic activity.

Sirtuin 3, a new target of PGC-1alpha, plays an important role in the suppression of ROS and mitochondrial biogenesis. [PDF]
Sirtuin 3 (SIRT3) is one of the seven mammalian sirtuins, which are homologs of the yeast Sir2 gene. SIRT3 is the only sirtuin with a reported association with the human life span.

Neuronal mitochondrial oxidative stress induced by β-amyloid (Aβ) is an early event of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Emerging evidence has shown that antioxidant therapy represents a promising therapeutic strategy for the treatment of AD.

Systemic platelet factor 4 (PF4) is significantly depleted in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Peripheral PF4 replenishment restores central proteostasis by driving OPTN‐dependent, PINK1‐independent selective autophagy in motor neurons. This intervention effectively clears toxic SOD1 aggregates, blunts glial activation, and preserves neuromuscular ...
